Anyone else 40 and on the pill?

GP doesn’t seem worried at all and was happy for me to keep taking it until 50, but have also been told it’s really not wise after 40.

I'm 42 and the surgery are quite happy.

The combined pill can safely be used until the age of 50, so long as there are no health risks such as smoking, obesity, high blood pressure etc that could lead to heart, stroke or blood clotting problems.

What then happens at 50?

My gp and gynecologist have said the same, ok until 50 as it controls my endometriosis. Hoping to ride out the menopause on it! There is breast cancer in my family and the pill is less risky than HRT for this. I know there are other risks but I don't smoke and it makes me keep my weight in the healthy range, I'm not sure I would be so careful otherwise.!!

You move on to something else e.g. mini pill or coil until age 55

My GP said the same. Fine until 50. Not sure why 50 is the magic number though.

I think at age 50 the risks outweigh the benefits

My GP surgery always told me 35! I stopped at 39 as my BP was up and down and I'm overweight too. Don't smoke though. Think they were worried about DVT.

Stay on it for as long as they let you. I wish I had 🥺

if you were overweight with blood pressure issues then they wouldn't have let you stay on it anyway. I had to switch to the mini pill due to weight issues then had the mirena coil

I was switched to the mini pill in late 40's (no health issues) and remained on it until 53 at which point I was given 6 months worth and told to stop taking them at a time to suit me to see if I had gone through the menopause. My periods never returned when I stopped taking it and that was 3 years ago.

Don't even get me started on the mini pill. One of the worst times of my life health wise 🙄

I am 49 and still on Yasmin (not overweight or smoker though, and have low blood pressure)

In a year I will need a plan B I guess

My mum did not hit meno until we’ll into her 50s, eek

48 here and on the POP.

I have always taken Yasmin but seem to be constantly bleeding as I tricycle - up until now I’ve always got away with tricycling. Tried mini pill years ago and I was so low and depressed so don’t want to change to that. I’m thinking continue with Yasmin but stop tricycling and see if that solves it.
