dd had temp of 38.5 last night, all night has been wide awake most of night.
only other symtom was telling me her eyes(and her big toe?) hurt.
her temp eventually went down with medised and those cool strips for forhead.

Shes woke up this morning, is obv very tired but has said she feels ok(no more eye ache), no other symtoms(no rashetc), she HAS had little cough altely(like a cold) but thats it....

im a cm and already have one mindee here, do i take dd to doc before i pick up next one from nursery or ride with it today?

shes eaten, had drink and temp right back to normal, not even hot to touch???

If it was my child,I wouldn't bother with the doctor if she appears to be coming through it.

pigsinmud · 02/10/2007 08:13

Sounds like she's a lot better. I wouldn't bother with the doc.

I would ride it out for today - but keep an eye out for the temperature again. Is the Medisded out of her system now? i.e. has her temperature stayed down or is still being controlled by the drugs? If it's down and stayed down, then I wouldn't go to the doctor.

no medised since about 11pm last night, just took temp at its gone from 38.5 down to 36.8(?) on my themometer, she does seem fine but last year she had tonsilitus and scarletina and i didnt think it was prob until few days later when rash came out and she was burning up, done wanna rush her there for nothing but dont want to leave it till too late again

just gave her normal infant paracetamol(as temp was slightly raised) not medised as that makes her sleep, she seems to playing fine with mindee now

But little ones do get all kinds of things, and they're usually over as quickly as they begin.

What will the doctor actually do? There's nothing to treat at the moment!

Keep an ene on her, let her sleep and take it easy today, and make sure she has plenty of fluids. At the very first sign of a temperature rise, give her some Calpol/Junior Nurofen, and then go to the doctor.

I'm sure she'll be fine!!!

BecauseImWereWolfit · 02/10/2007 08:22

Keep and eye on her, of course!

I must be an incredibly neglectful mother - it wouldn't even cross my mind to take one of mine to the dr in these circumstances. In fact neither of mine have been to the dr since they were babies - and they've had all the usual coughs and colds and temperatures. Do other people take theirs when they have what I think of as "normal" child sort of bugs and things? Should I?

PinkChick · 02/10/2007 12:29

each to their own i guess, whenever i have taken dd to doc, i have always came back with drops/medicine/herbal remedy(one fab doc), so i generally am right when i take her.
if your children are lucky enough to not have had chest infection/tonsilitus/scarletina like my dd has then great, thats good, dont change what you're doing you sound like you're doing fine

Pink, jhave you ever considered that what they give you isn't really necessary but just a way of getting rid of you/shutting you up?

COUNTPinkChickULA · 04/10/2007 19:28

No, i hadnt.
