Hello. Looking for food/meal suggestions for low fat diet. My gallbladder is causing me problems at the moment and I’m Sticking to a low fat diet to try and control it but I’m stuck. I’m literally eating fruit and veg, chicken and rice. Any other ideas please.

Look up Rosemary Conley her original diet and recipe books are all no fat because she was waiting for a gall bladder op.

Chicken breast, I liked them cooked in Maggi Italian herb things.

Merengue is pure sugar and egg white no fat

Baked potatoes with beans or tuna. No butter though. Pasta salads. Vegetable soups. Toast, no butter again though Sad

Natural Greek yoghurt (not Greek style) comes in fat free versions so nice to have with fruit.

You can make cake mixes up with full fat coke instead of eggs check the fat content though. Sainsbury do a chocolate cake mix for £1 that is dairy free and it needs 300ml of cheap non-diet coke. Google soda cakes.

Thank you for the suggestions. Chicken and rice for the third night running was losing its appeal 😂

Stir fry - I do it in a flat pan no oil, with a bit of plum sauce and soy sauce? At least it's a different flavour!

Are you on a waiting list to get it removed?

Cupcakefairy12 · 03/08/2020 18:27

@homemadecommunistrussia I’m pregnant so they really are trying to avoid that at all costs. Will have to try and manage with diet for the time being.

Be aware Op that your gall bladder might end up playing up whether you eat low fat or not. I ended up not being able to drink coffee, and had loads of other triggers as well.

Good luck.

homemadecommunistrussia · 03/08/2020 20:47

That does make things complicated.
I only ask because some people try to just manage their condition and I always think that's a bad idea. I hear about people restricting their diet for years and suffering repeated attacks.

I have: Weetabix or muesli with fat free Greek yogurt and fruit for breakfast, tuna salad, omelette (usually mushroom, sometimes ham and peppers) and salad or a huge cottage cheese and salad sandwich for lunch. Also jacket potato and beans, or beans on toast. Use fry light or a teaspoon of oil for the omelette. Dinner tonight was dhall with spinach and rice. It’s easy to do a low fat curry using chicken, tinned tomatoes and yogurt. Also tomato based pasta dishes, or cannelloni stuffed with ricotta and spinach. I don’t have a particularly sweet tooth, so have fruit for pudding, or a sorbet.

I feel your pain!! I had mine removed this year and feel like a new woman. Foods I found terrible before and after were:
Milk, cheese, sweet stuff, sausage rolls, sausages etc, oranges, anything spicy.
Foods that kept me going were so bland, crackers, grapes, melon, rice, chicken, potatoes etc. I found I could tolerate gravy so had gravy with lots of things, including pasta! I have started gradually introducing sweet treats into my diet but still can't tolerate milk or lots of cheese eg pizza.
Sory I can't help more but the sooner you get it removed the better.
