Ferritin of 9, no treatment?

Long story but been feeling quite rough for most of the year. Finally plucked up the courage to have blood test I was supposed to have back in March and it's come back with ferritin of 9. I was told by GP that this is borderline low so wants to do a repeat blood test in a month. Does this sound right? I would have thought if it were low then would need treatment?

Mine is also 9. I was tested because of my chest hurting when I climbed hills! I also have ears ringing, general tiredness. I was prescribed ferrous sulphate for a month, and it went up from 8 to 9.
Given loads of other tests, and ended up being sent for an endoscopy and colonoscopy to check there was no internal bleeding as at that point I had not had a period in 9 months. (I got the impression that if I had been having periods, that would have been that). All was clear, so that’s it, no further treatment offered!
