So stressed about my teeth

So I'm mid 40's..have never had any problems with my teeth other than some fillings.

A few weeks ago a tooth cracked.. I was mortified and hugely stressed.
With covid my dentist wasn't open and I couldn't access an emergency apt so I paid privately and had the tooth built back up.
A couple of weeks later another tooth cracked.. My anxiety by this point was through the roof. My dentist was open but days went by with no call back from the dentist so in panic I went private again and had a filling

So they've advised due to cost of 2 emergency apt fees I should sign up and pay the monthly fee so they can check what's going on.

I'm due to go in and have xrays and go from there.
I'm so scared at not only what theyre going to find but the cost too.

I realise I can go to my dentist but 1 they aren't doing normal apts and I still pay but?..

Would you say stick private or nag the NHS one?

If you want it sorted any time soon, I think you’re going to have to go private. The dentists where I live are still only seeing patients that are in severe pain. I know someone who lost a tooth before lockdown and were halfway through the treatment to have a new one put in. They’ll called this week for the second time to enquire when they could actually have the tooth out in as it’s causing them anxiety to go to work and socialise with people with a tooth missing near the front of their mouth, but they were told to call back in six weeks and they will reassess ten appointment situation then.

Mrs R thanks. Yes that's my concern. Can't really win at the moment with the current situation I guess.

It must be so difficult for dentists and I don’t envy the staff taking the calls as I am sure they will have (wrongly) taken abuse from many people. However, it’s puts people like you and my friend at such a disadvantage as these things would be sorted fairly quickly and I feel that teeth can cause people so much pain and also mental anguish.

How spooky, they called me just after I posted!
The dentist was very apologetic, said it was a nightmare for them and was sorry I'd have to go private.
Obviously I've been seen so don't need an apt as such but have said I grind my teeth and could do with being checked for a guard to help.. I think this is why my teeth are cracking. She said someone will ring me next week. As for the rest I'll have to ride with it I guess.

I have this same problem. My teeth were fine until my 40’s but now at 47 I have awful issues. I have tmj disorder and grind my teeth at night which the dentist says has caused the issue. I have lost two lower molars as a result and was quoted £2000 for implants! The dentist reeled off that figure like it was 50 quid! I said I couldn’t afford it so am now saving up for some dentures (great 😩). The other side I have a crown which came off 6 weeks ago, the dentist will not see me because of Covid, they wouldn’t see me even to try to glue it back on so now I have a massive hole which I am to keep topping up with temporary filing (crap stuff) and have been told that I will probably now need a new crown when they can eventually see me, which will cost me around £250-£300, I am so pissed off.

Hi! I hate my teeth and have been toying with the idea of composite bonding or veneers but can't afford either. I purchased secret veneers online, they cost £399 and clip over your original teeth and I find them great

Rhoda it's a nightmare isn't it. Especially at the moment where I can't even see the dentist.. Stress. I really hope you can get your tooth sorted ASAP.. Its not fun.
Th ooh ill research those.. I honestly fear my x Ray coming up.
