Did my shoulder surgery fail?

I had shoulder surgery 5 months ago. I had bone removed from the top of the shoulder, and from where the collarbone meets the shoulder. Physio has been a bit inconsistent due to CV, but I've done the exercises I've been given. My arm is still weak, and I have the same pain now I had before the operation (all down my arm from the delt to the back of hand).

Has anyone else been in this position and had a successful outcome. I'm really disappointed with how it's gone.

I had both of mine done about 6 months apart . The first was done by a general orthopod and he did an open surgery which took a fair few months to improve , the second was a keyhole procedure by a shoulder specialist and I only actually went to the physio group for about 3 weeks as it was perfectly ok with me doing exercises at home ( I hated the physio group) . I definitely didn’t have a lot of pain though after the initial pain from the OP .

I had two shoulder surgeries as the first one was unsuccessful. I had a labral tear (aka SLAP tear) and the first surgery didn't fix it so I had a repeat about 18 months later. During the recovery from my second surgery, I was still worried that it hadn't been successful, but better physio sorted me out. So I'd advise a second opinion about physio (I went private to get another opinion) and don't rule out needing another operation, though I know that's a depressing prospect. My shoulder is now fine, two years after my second surgery, if that's any consolation. Good luck!

Thanks @Floralnomad and @ShoesJerry. I'm feeling particularly down about it today as I've been to see a chiropractor who I thought would help and they just want me to spend loads of money getting treated. It was a post lockdown offer and then came the hard sell (with finance offer!). Feel like it's a scam. I will have a bit more patience with my healing, and chase up my consultant apt.

I wouldn’t go down any osteopath / chiropractor road until you’ve seen the consultant , physio would be more beneficial anyway .

Thanks @Floralnomad - I'll chase up the consultant appointment

Just thought I'd come back with an update in case anyone is searching the threads and finds it useful. I went to see an osteopath for initial consultation and they suggested possible nerve damage as a cause. That gave me the confidence to ask my consultant for an MRI on my neck. Turns out I have a bulging disc in my neck which is putting some pressure on my spine, and that could be the cause of the pain as it goes all the way down to my hand. I've been referred back to a different specialist now and it's likely I'll get some more physio (but hopefully differently) and an injection.

Thought I'd come back with a further update even though it's been a while. I asked for a referral back to the shoulder unit at the hospital and I've just seen a different consultant. he thinks that part of the surgery was unsuccessful in there's no gap between my clavicle and shoulder, so I'm having an MRI next week and he's asked how I feel about further surgery. I'm actually feeling quite pleased as there might be something that could help.
