Talk to me about kidney stones diet

Hi brief info on my situation... I’ve been in hospital for a week with Sepsis, Kidney infection and kidney stones. I’m home, hopefully on the road to recovery. Was handed a vague generic dietary advice for calcium stone formers.
Now I know I probably don’t drink enough but generally have a good balanced diet. I’m just wondering if you have definitely avoid/definitely eat options for me...
thank you in advance Smile

I'd like to follow this thread for my husband. Her waiting to pass his. I believe Brazil nuts and pine nuts are off the menu. Someone said to avoid pears too but that could be hearsay.

In order to avoid kidney stones make sure to eat oxalate rich foods with calcium rich foods. If you eat them together they will bind together and leave from your digestive system. If you eat oxalate foods by themselves and a lot then they are passed into kidneys where they form kidney stones. Also up your citrates as they make urine less acidic and reduce the size of existing kidney stones.

Ah right @literallyfedup so raspberries and strawberries are a big no no but if eat them with ice cream that’s fine? Same with avocado that was on medium risk list but if eat with mozzarella, ok? The list I got was a little hairy fairy... and to eat 2 days a vegan diet so I’m bamboozled! Hmm

That's what the urologist explained to me when I had kidney stones for the second time. When I had them first I stopped eating calcium rich foods as everyone around me believed stones were caused by calcium.
