So as the title suggests, I think I'm overreacting a little. I'm not normally an 'ill' person, I rarely admit to being poorly, so this is fairly out of character.

I keep getting palpitations. I'm 99% sure these are being caused by tiredness due to poor sleep, however, my partner thinks that I'm suffering from anxiety. Tonight has been particularly bad with a strange pressure feeling in my chest, along with a few palpitations here and there, but I have gotten myself whipped up into a frenzy of worry. Genuinely almost called an ambulance, I was so worked up and worried.
Does this sound like anything to worry about? Or just nothing/a bit of anxiety?

I think given that it's not happened before like this id give 111 a call at least

Have you tried taking your pulse and going breathing exercises?

Nobody can tell on here, unfortunately. It's likely (incredibly likely given the panic you feel too) to be nothing serious, but telling you it's just anxiety/lack of sleep/too much caffeine would be unwise, just in case it's not... so get it checked out! Not necessarily an ambulance, but equally don't hesitate to phone 101 if you feel it's that serious and they'll send one if they think you need one.

That said, I get terrible palpitations when I'm tired and have a caffeinated drink to compensate. Even when I know that's all it is I find them very alarming.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Oops, don't ring 101, definitely 111!

Rang 111, they think it's just anxiety/fatigue combo, but I've got to follow up with my GP tomorrow just in case as I do have a mild arrhythmia, so they'd rather me get checked. I'm just really scared to go to sleep for some reason :( I hate feeling like this as I'm not usually a worrier at all.

Don't put pressure on yourself to sleep then, just do something relaxing. Can you listen to an audiobook with your eyes closed for a while and see how that goes?

Literallyfedup · 10/07/2020 08:04

If your palpitations are anxiety related then splash some cold water on your face( really cold) and your heartbeat will come down immediately.

OP- how did you get on when you saw your gp?
