She's had stomach cramps on and off for the last week but no temperature. Given that she's started infant school I've put it down to stress. Today however I'm starting to think I'm wrong . She's barely eaten anything all day and this afternoon/this evening has stomach cramps again. She doesn't feel sick yet (and at 4 she'd know) and now she has a high temperature. When asked to point to exactly where the pain is she points to her tummy button. She's been loosish for a few days but certainly not what I would have called diahorhea (sp?). She's refusing medicine!

How is she today wills?

Re your dh wanting to leave it - I was the same (in denial that anything was wrong!) - as soon as my temp went down I said "oh look, I'm fine now" - dh got cross with me and made me go straight to the doctors and I ended up being admitted that night! Glad you and dh persisted and she is being looked at - hope the outcome is not as drastic as appendicitis

dd1 had grumbling appendix for over six months (before full blown appendicitis). Mild fluctuating temperature, pains coming, sore for a day, going again, same again month or so later.

Sorry have been seriously running around and dd2 is shattered. The doctor at the hosptial concluded that it wasn't appendicitus but probably stress through her issues with seperation anxiety and starting school. I'm shocked that stress can cause that kind of temperature fluxtuation. Anyway I took her into school as the sooner she overcomes this and faces her demons the better for her but have now alerted the school to her stress levels and asked for a meeting to get some advice on how to help her cope with this because I've run out of ideas. She comes home each day happy and content having obviously had a lovely time in class. School is not worrying her, it appears that leaving me is worrying her to such an extent that she is making herself physically really ill.

Think I will still take her to my local gp (who I think is great) and get her checked fully over on Monday (he wasn't in today and she didn't have any symptons today) regardless.

Thanks to everyone. At least now I have no regrets over our course of action and don't feel foolish etc.

What a relief wills! Do keep an eye on her (well you are, silly of me to say it really ). I went back to the GPs three times before I was sent to hospital, and each time diagnosed with different things - not their fault at all, it wasn't a straightforward presentation of appendicitis. Glad you feel you can trust your GP.

if u still not happy with her take her back. often at this age the tummy goes out in sympathy and it not common to get tummy ache when it something wrong. My ds1 had bad tummyache and temp he was pointing to tummy button i was convinced it was his appendix after five visits to docs one of them being a and e, all of which said nothing wrong probably viral, he finally diagnosed with pneumonia and was in hosp for a week. Surprised as he didnt even have a cough. The doc said it really common to get tummy ache for unrelated problems and alot of docs get confused by this. A friends son always gets tummy ache when getting an ear infection. I just felt I had to say if she not better go back. I hope she feeling better today
