Would you go for surgery RIGHT NOW?

In a hospital that wasn't taking Covid patients? It's private surgery

The most convenient time for me to go is beginning of August and I'm considering it

Personally I would as I think it would be better to get surgery done as soon as you can and not have certain things on hold awaiting surgery. But I guess it depends what the surgery is for and any other health conditions you have.

Eyewhisker · 07/07/2020 22:00

Yes. Infections are very low now and better now than the autumn

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 07/07/2020 22:02

Yes, I would

But it does depend if you are in anyway at risk, and how necessary the operation is - an operation could mean anything from a lung transplant to a toenail removal to cosmetic work

It's getting my knees scraped out instead of having constant injections

No other health issues - apart from not being able to walk for last 4 months (as was due injections when we went into lockdown!)

But had injections last week and can literally run upstairs now Grin

I had major surgery in the middle of London last week. It was fine. 2 weeks isolation then a COVID test when I was admitted.

mamansnet · 07/07/2020 22:04

Not UK based but I had emergency surgery on a broken ankle 2.5 weeks ago. It was fine. The doctors and nurses were all taking extra precautions and nobody was allowed to visit me on the ward except DH.

If you need it, do it, before the backlog of postponed operations delays everything...

Sorry, don't know why that posted so many times!

DishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 07/07/2020 22:07

In that case yes I would

You dont want to end up with 4 months of no walking again!

My six month old had surgery in April in a major hospital with a large number of Covid patients. I was really impressed with the way it was handled and how careful everyone was. The surgery couldn’t wait to be honest but knowing how good they were at managing everything, I would do it again without hesitation.

I had major surgery last month, perfect timing as everyone still being relatively careful/social distancing. Hospital was covid free but all precautions taken. Best to have your surgery now than wait until autumn/winter. Good luck!
