Breast lump?

Bramblespoint · 06/07/2020 21:38

I've got pretty lumpy breasts normally especially pre menstrual.

Due on in two days and breast are sore (normal) so must have been rubbing one as I took off my bra and felt a lump.

It's hard to distinguish from generally lumpiness, but I think I can feel it.

Would you see GP or wait until period is over to see if it goes. Don't want to waste the GPs time especially at the moment

Wait a full cycle if you can as it will be much easier to establish if it is a persistent lump.

Also best to attend at the point in your cycle when they are less lumpy in general if you can

That said go sooner if you get nipple discharge, skin puckering or lumps in your armpit just to be safe.

Most lumps are not cancer. Try not to worry but do get it checked.

Thank you.

Hard not to worry Confused

I wouldn’t wait personally OP.

I wouldn't wait either. Not because I think for one moment it's anything but because the toll on your mental health is probably not worth it. Just phone the dr and ask for an appointment.

@Bramblespoint I could have written this myself. I'm also due in a few days and felt a soft, mobile lump in my armpit yesterday that I don't think I've felt before. I freaked out a bit and called the doctor today, and got an appointment with a senior nurse who gave me a breast exam and couldn't really feel the lump. They have to wear gloves now to examine which she said makes it much harder to examine breasts. In any case, I can definitely feel it. She said that in women my age (38) if the lump does not feel suspicious they usually advise us to wait for your next period and if they lump is still there they will refer you. So that's my plan - if it's still there I would prefer to get it checked out for piece of mind.

I would contact your Gp and not wait.
I say this as someone with large, lumpy breasts who got sudden pain in lockdown. Left it due to C19, and now in a 2ww for a breast clinic appointment as Dr said needed referring.
Wishing I had not left it now and at least phoned the Gp.
