Sore, painful vaginal entrance - can you have vaginal atrophy even if you are still mensturating?

I am 45, so this may well be hormonal.

I have had a very sore, vaginal entrance, progressively getting worse for about 3 weeks. Have taken thrush medication (Canesten pessary and cream) although I don't have the symptoms, have put on sudocreme, vagisil, I am not dry down below and have more or less regular periods. I don't thing it is BV as no smell or weird discharge and no itching, just extreme soreness in one specific place. I cannot see anything particularly strange, although I think I have some pimples under the skin around my vulva, but this is not exactly where the pain/discomfort is.

Is it possible to have vaginal atrophy even if you have normal discharge and don't feel dry and have regular periods still? What else could this be?

I think you really need to see your GP if that is possible atm.
It could be perimenopausal symptoms, but unlikely if your periods are still regular.

I would say you can, yes. My periods are intermittent, but I've found vagisil helpful. It's worth calling the GP- I told mine I thought I needed vagisil, explained the problem, he agreed and prescribed, no examination necessary.

Clothing rubbing? Too tight jeans?
