De-registering from a GP practice

Hello

Does anyone know if it is possible to de-register from a GP practice without registering at another one?

There is only one GP surgery in the area but I am deeply distressed by the way they have treated me and therefore would rather be without a doctor. I don’t really want advice on why I should be registered, it is a choice I have made just wanting to know how I go about doing it?

I don't get why you'd de-register though? If you don't want to go, don't go. If you want to make a statement then complain. Why shoot yourself in the foot just so that you can flounce out?

Just find a new one, register with them and then get hold of the practice manager at the one that's not treated you well and let them know what happened. It enables them to respond and amend their practice so nobody else has to have the treatment you did.

The problem is, you will probably need a GP fairly soon. Yes, you can go to A+E, but most routine things you will need to go to a GP for; smear tests, onward referrals etc. Is there not another GP in travelling distance?

Of course you could just ask to be removed from heir list, not sure if they would do it though.

Hello - did you manage to de-register in the end? I'm considering this option too as I have a private GP with insurance - I can't work out whether our NHS GP Practice is deliberately trying to wind people up or just incompetent. I totally get what you mean and there are private options for smears, blood tests etc. I am done with being treated so badly.
