Twitching

For 3 months i have been twitching, starts in my feet going all the way up my legs and other random parts of my body. Keeps me awake for hours at night. I twitch throughout the day occasionally but more lying down. This started 2 weeks after a possible but inconclusive diagnosis of carpal tunnel. Physio says its not connected. Things not moving very fast with nhs does anyone know what might be wrong? I would appreciate any replies thankyou.

My DH told me I was also having spasms in my sleep.

Turned out to B12 and Vitamin D deficiency. All twitching stopped when I started B12 injections and had a prescription for vitamin D. Have you had any blood tests recently?

Buttons4me · 02/07/2020 22:03

Thankyou yes had bloods done when it first started gp said they were normal.

I thought it was actually low magnesium levels that cause it. But I am no expert..

Can be vitamin deficiency, dehydration or stress, or bfs, which is harmless

Literallyfedup · 02/07/2020 22:31

Agree with previous poster with vitamin b12 and d deficiency. I had both and twitching stopped after supplements but you have to take high doses at beginning.

I twitch too all the time, don't notice so much when I'm busy at work but when I'm sat watching tv feel the flickers everywhere. I try not to google as I know I'll convince myself I have something terrible Hmm,

I had an eye twitch for a few weeks earlier this year too and it just stopped. I'd started a new job at the time which involved a lot of learning. So put it down to that,

Or hormonal. I started to twitch during the perimenopause. Very scary. It stopped when I was fully menopaused but once in a blue moon, I get it again, last week or two and disappear again.

Tanfastic · 03/07/2020 08:05

I never thought it could be hormonal but I'm definitely 47 and hormonal!

If they are low end of normal range but you are symptomatic the nice guidelines, iirc, say you could benefit from treatment so it may be worth trying supplements to see if there is any improvement then have another discussion with GP. Did you get a printout of your results and lab values so you could see where in the normal range you were?
