How long for root canal to feel normal

Hi how long did it take for your root canal to feel normal?
I had mine finished 3 days ago and pleased as pain I was feeling from inside the tooth has gone, but it feels bruised if I push it gently with my tongue - so I’m trying not to! I have temporary crown on and due to return for permanent in couple weeks.
This tooth began its root treatment in January and because of lockdown has only just been completed. When it was initially cleaned it felt tender for few weeks like it is now.
I know I’m impatient - just needing reassurance I think!
I do have ulcerative colitis and wonder whether inflammation in my body takes longer to ease?
Thanks

When I got my crown done that felt sensitive for about 3 weeks I couldn’t eat on it at all! My dentist said up to 2 weeks before it felt normal but it took just over. I hate the dentist so I just put up with it in the hope it would go away and it did

Nikki2o16 thanks for replying- it was prepped for a crown at the same time so surely it must still be healing...hope so.
Glad yours went away - always encouraging to hear other people’s experiences isn’t it

I've found it can be a couple of weeks. It's not really the tooth I dont think. That bit of your mouth is just battered and bruised and needs to recover.

helpfulperson - thank you! Hearing this makes me feel so much better as when I google mostly I’m reading only a couple of days and back to normal, and I don’t feel like that and worry I’m slow healing. Suppose I’m older now at 60 and may play it’s part 😩

Mine still feels a bit 'jingly' after 6 months. It was done by an endodontist. My normal dentist said that was normal when se refilled the tooth ( I havent had it crowned).

11MrsLuther. - not sure how jingly feels lol! But gather you don’t feel it’s back to normal yet. Why did your dentist refill the tooth - was it not completed by your Endo? You’ve had it done by an expert though so should be ok

@webby2 I suppose I meant a bit nervy if that makes sense! The dentist tried to do it twice, it was incredibly painful then my lovely FIL paid for me to see the endodontist. He put a temp filling on and my dentist put a permanent one on about 6 weeks later. The endo said to wait as long as poss with the temp filling. I couldn't really afford a crown and I also wanted to check the tooth was ok as the endo said there was a chance the root canal could fail. The filling looks ok, I would like to get it crowned at some point but cant see I'll have a spare £500 any time soon! Good luck with yours.
