Feeling sick during the night

jess3817 · 10/06/2020 13:57

Basically that - the last 5 nights, when I've been awake during the night I feel sick, that horrid churning feeling. It last for quite a long time and keeps me awake. I'm definitely not pregnant. Feel fine during the day. No bug of any sorts. I don't drink any alcohol. I don't go to bed hungry or feel hungry..

Anybody have any ideas because it's not particularly nice..Thanks for any advice.

Stomach ulcer?

Ilovewheelychairs · 10/06/2020 14:13

Indigestion? Could you try sucking a couple of Rennies or something and seeing if that helps?

Toomboom · 10/06/2020 14:13

Reflux perhaps?

Glitterb · 10/06/2020 14:22

Probably indigestion, this sometimes wakes me up feeling sick. Maybe keep some water and rennies by the side of the bed.

Or are you getting too hot? I can’t sleep unless I have a window open or I wake up hot and feeling sick

jess3817 · 10/06/2020 14:26

Hadn't realised reflux and indigestion caused nausea - will get some remmies and see if it helps. Don't usually get it but willing to try anything :-)

Last few nights I haven't been hot, or don't think I've been but will bear it in mind if it happens again.

Thanks all :-)

I had this recently. Only once though. I was awake for hours backwards and forwards to the toilet. I was sure I was going to be sick (in fact I was willing it to have some relief from that awful nausea). My heart was pounding too, just like before being sick, which exacerbated the nauseous feeling. I wasn't sick and luckily for me it didn't reoccur. I wondered if it was something to do with blood sugar levels? Definitely worth trying indigestion medication.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 10/06/2020 20:48

Could you be menopausal? Hormone fluctuations can make you feel nauseous. Or hungry?

tinkywinkyshandbag · 10/06/2020 20:49

Sorry I just saw you said not hungry.

FizzyPink · 10/06/2020 20:53

I have this if I get too hot in the night. I have anxiety about being sick though and it’s definitely me working myself up with worry that I’m going to be sick which then makes me feel sick.
It’s so annoying because I know it’s completely irrational

DonaldJTrumpet · 10/06/2020 21:05

Are you going through a stressful time? You may not have anxiety but your body might? It reacts to things on a subconscious level.

jess3817 · 10/06/2020 21:41

I hadn't thought of sugar levels - how do I control that during the night I wonder? I don't go to bed hungry.

I guess I could be menopausal? Only 40, but It could happen couldn't it?😂

I don't feel stressed or anxious, however maybe inwardly my body is reacting.

Thanks for all the advice. Will take it on board.

I was thinking reflux or indigestion too. Are you eating within 2 or 3 hours before going to bed?

jess3817 · 11/06/2020 16:11

No I don't eat after 730 usually.

It happened again last night. I used some indegestion stuff but it didn't really help unfortunately - i guess I'll just have to ride it out. Thanks for all the advice

Call your GP, OP! They should be able to help.

Toomboom · 12/06/2020 08:34

Rennies aren't strong enough for reflux. Try Omeprazole instead. You can buy it in a supermarket or see your GP for a prescription.

jess3817 · 12/06/2020 08:38

Thanks everyone - think I will speak to the gp
