I started using it on Thursday, and I am feeling really sick . Did this happen to anyone else, and does it last?

Feeling a bit better after eating. I guess it is just a reaction to the hormones. It feels like morning sickness - even have the yucky taste in my mouth (that looks like a feeling ill smiley)

Feeling nauseaus is a side effect of the contraceptive patch. you can expect this to last maybe for a few weeks as a worse case scenario, although it should tail off pretty soon. If you continue to feel very sick, you may want to go back to your Gp or clinic to try something else. In a simplistic way, the way the patch works (the same as the combined contraceptive pill) is that it tricks your body into believing it is pregnant, so you dont ovulate. This is why many of the side effects can be similar to those felt in pregnancy, such as nausea, sore boobs, etc. Taking the pill with food, or before bed can help. HTH

btw, a good thing with the patch is that if you are actually sick you don't have to worry about the method failing as it doesn't need to be passed through your stomach like taking the pill, so dont worry about getting pregnant because of this!

Thank-you everybody for your replies.
I am feeling a lot better this morning, and might even be able to face a cup of tea

It's nice to know it is a normal side effect and I am not strange...
