Asthma

Hey ladies & gents,
Looking for a bit of advice regarding my asthma. For the last 6 months I’ve re-developed asthma as an adult I would say it’s fairly controlled with inhalers and only using my emergency one every so often and I’m seeing an asthma nurse every 4 weeks prior to COVID-19 and within the last 6 months I have been on antibiotics and steroids for long & chest infections.
I haven’t had a letter or phone call to say I need to self shield although it is something I have been trying to do. Not receiving a letter or phone call is very common In my area I think the GP’s have given up - my elderly grandmother hasn’t received one and she has every condition under the sun and a few other people I know haven’t received them.
I’ve tried to speak to the doctor to see if I should be shielding but can’t get passed the receptionist- keep getting told read the guidelines.
My question is ... how severe does asthma have to be to shield ?!? I need to get something from the doctor to prove to my boss I need to shield (another long story). As a first aider at work and H&S administer ive looked everywhere but can’t see anything about what is classed as severe asthma in Scotland 😳
Any help would be great.
Hope everyone’s keeping safe x

It depends what inhalers & medication you use and/or hospital admissions, steroids should be included, but there is a number here to speak to someone to clarify. Shielding letters were initially sent centrally (not from GP) but extra cohorts were recently included that relied on your GP coding you in their system.
