i was supervising her whilst she ate a yellow plum. poised to take the seed from her as usual. I was distracted for a split second and thats it...all gone. she made a face of discomfort then that was it. i tried to get it back but to no avail. Now I am worried.....what will happen. will it be able to get through her system. its about 1cm squared in size. should I take her to A&E?

or will it just pas through and give a painful poo?

if she is not in distress does it mean it is not stuck?

forevermore, I've just googled it for you and although swallowed foriegn objects usually pass through with out complication all of the advice says that you should contact the medical profession as they often want to track the object down. try not to worry though, she is not in pain or discomfort so it's obviously heading in the right direction.

DD swallowed a jewel type thing (the ones children use in crafts) about the size of a 1p when she was about 3.

She didn't cough or splutter, it just went straight down. I wasn't going to do anything about it at first but then read that you should get them checked out.

I took her to A&E where they listened to her chest to make sure the jewel wasn't causing an obstruction or any problems. I took along an identical jewel to the one she swallowed so the doctor could see it, it didn't have sharp edges so he said to check for its exit .

Luckily it appeared the following day - I didn't even have to go sifting through her poo to find it as there it was, a shiny pink heart-shaped jewel, decorating the poo as though someone had deliberately placed it there.

DS has swallowed several cherry stones and 2 plum stones so far(now 4.9). Tbh it never occurred to me that I should worry, although I do ask him to be more careful to spit them out, and when he was 2 I used to pit all stone fruit - and they all reappeared the other end without problems
