My DD had ringworm some time ago and got it treated through some cream called Daktacort I think. Now I seem to have a blotch of it on my arm . I'm 36 weeks preggers and can't be Ar*ed going to the docs just for this, but the pharmacists at Boots said I should get it double checked by the doc and wouldn't sell me the stuff.. I just want the cream! Am thinking of getting my husband to pretend he has it and buy me some that way! any similar experiences please?!

Topical Corticosteroids
Can't be arsed to go to the doctor?
The advice seems to be "The medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless considered essential by your doctor. Seek medical advice." and " Topical corticosteroids should not generally be used during pregnancy unless considered essential by you and your doctor."

I would go to the doctor.

Ringworm can also be treated by topical fungicides without the corticosteroids - but as you are pregnant I think it would be advisable to go to the Doctor.

Mine was treated by letting a shampoo wash all over me - the cream didn't work. And I can't remember the name of the shampoo...

It's just a fungus like athletes foot - you could even use Canesten on it I think.

See here?

hmm it looks like the vote is in favour of going to the doctors.. I obviosuly don't want to put my unborn at risk of anything, when I say I can't be ar*ed I mean that it seems daft to go for such a minor ailment (this itchy patch is the size of a 5p coin) BUT it could spread/ I don't want my daughter to get it again etc etc. Thanks for your comments and links x

NHS Direct - the only thing it says not to use is anti-scalp-ringworm tablets?

Would you be seeing a doc soon anyway though? Or a nurse?

Yes it could spread, and you don't want it to get to your head apparently. (I stopped at shoulders!) Go to the doctor.
