It seems half of dd's class are down with it. Dp spent yesterday lying in the dark with an excruciating headache and throwing up and I can't keep anything down.

Sympathy or share stories?

Poor you

I live in dread of tummy upsets.

Anything else is bearable on the list of school bugs they can catch, but sick and stomach aches are the worst. Symapthies.

imaginaryfriend · 20/09/2007 10:09

They are the worst, it's my dread too. Nobody told me this happened when you have kids!

Definitely sympathy!
Went to a friends house yesterday for coffee. She admitted she was feeling really sick but blamed it on meatballs she had eaten yesterday. I was very suspicous especially as her dh then turned up looking very pale and he sat there very quiet. I asked him if he was ok and my friend jumped in saying he is always quiet! She knows my paranoia about tummy things but you can't really hide a tummy bug.

They seemed surprised that I refused the offer of teacakes, coffee etc.

And surprise surprise, today my tummy feels decidedly wibbly

huuuuuuuge sympathies. I'm dreading it this year. I think we'll become obsessive hand-washers this winter. Not that it will make a dot of difference I'm sure

oliveoil · 20/09/2007 11:42

dd1 was sick yesterday, 3 in her class as well

I HATE this time of year, they take it in turns to be ill - like a relay race - and I am sleep deprived and fed up from now till about March

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

NappiesGalore · 20/09/2007 11:43

alll had it here.
man, its baaaaad. stomach cramps like you wouldnt beleive, plus the old D&V of course... and evil muscles aches and shooting pains.

seems to be a 24 hour thing round these parts (a thought to hold onto for dear life in the midst of it)

oliveoil · 20/09/2007 11:44

dh was ill from Saturday morning till Sunday afternoon

although, obviously his was the Man version so vvvvvv bad

harrisey · 20/09/2007 13:25

We all had it last week, starting with dd2 vomiting all over me as we left for nursery on Monday ... went through the rest of us as the week went on.

We now all have horris cold/sore throat/cough .....

imaginaryfriend · 20/09/2007 13:54

Do you think this means it's over and done with for the winter though? You can't get it twice can you? [pleading emoticon]

I've had dd home for two days with tummy troubles. Tbh, I'm not surprised, as the loos at her new expensive school here in Nigeria are scuzzy, to say the least. She takes handwash to school as there's rarely any soap/water but dh and I have given her extra tips on avoiding transmission of bugs. Hope it works as I don't fancy a season of D&V.

sparklygothkat · 20/09/2007 14:36

We got a call today from the school asking us to pick up DS as he had bad stomach cramps, he had D atm no vomiting

Elibean · 20/09/2007 15:44

Poor everyone

My neice and nephew's school was closed down with this one last week, vomit all over the pavement outside apprently

No tummy problems at dd1's preschool yet, but she brought home a nasty cold that has turned into bronchitis and triggered mild asthma for her, and struck dh and dd2 (so far no complications, unless you count man-flu ) like a ton of catarrhy bricks.

I hate this season too - esp as dd2 has floppy larynx and does badly with upper respiratory tract infections. Anyone want to charter/steal/hijack a plane and fly off to warmer, virus free place with me?

annoyingdevil · 20/09/2007 17:19

DD had vomiting Sunday night. I had headache, nausea and D but no V. Poor DS (14 mths) has had D and has been screaming with tummy ache. We all have colds at the same time. So far, DD has been the only one to throw up, for which I am eternally grateful (I'm an emetophobe!)

imaginaryfriend · 20/09/2007 17:33

ad I'm an emetophobe too which makes this kind of thing absolutely unbearable. I haven't actually been sick, just retching, headache, feel like my stomach's on fire.

Will that be it then for for this term? I mean if you have it once do you get a teeny bit of immunity? Something to cling onto?!

In my 'obsessive emetophobe' opinion, you do get some immunity to them. I caught the v bug from hell last December. DD has had two more since then. First time I didn't catch it. Second time (on Sunday) - just slight nausea and D which I can handle.
