Painful right heel on weight bearing - anyone else had thjs?

I do have a history of foot problems - moretons neuroma, and I have given up running because of this (a couple of years ago)

I now have a very sore and painful right heel. It's worse on weight bearing, and it's worse still if I walk on it after a period of rest. It seems to ease off if I remain moderately active and keep moving (although always there in the background)

It's not plantar fasciitis as the pain is towards back of the heel, not between forefoot and heel.

Any thoughts re what it might be and how to cope with it?

The GPS aren't exactly accessible at the moment

My plantar fasciitis is in the back of my heel

I thought plantar fasciitis as well. Maybe try wearing asics trainers and see if that helps.

Is it similar symptoms? Pain on weight bearing and worse after a period of rest?

It usually is plantar. But many GP's are actually sitting around twiddling their thumbs on account of how nobody wants to bother them because they are busy!

I have PF and that's where I have pain too. A nighttime splint and insoles helped the last I had it (2hrs again) and am waiting on replacements to arrive from amazon this week.
It's bugger OP, and different solutions work for different people

I had similar. Couldnt weight bear and the pain was in my heel and slightly above. It was Achilles Tendonitis.
Was told to rest as much as possible and take painkillers. They also advised using a heel rasier thing in my slippers and shoes to take the pressure off my heel.

My PF was in my actual heel as well, only alleviated by wearing an orthotic inside a trainer. (The type that pushes up into your arch area).

I get something like this, that I initially thought was plantar fasciitis. On X-ray it turned out to be a heal spur, which is a tiny bit of arthritis in the heal that causes a bit of roughness to the heal bone. Insoles help, along with good shoes (wellies and trainers seem to make it worse). Losing weight helps too.

I've had this, I'm not overweight and it comes and goes. Sometimes worse than others. I don't know for sure but think it's the sciatic nerve.

When I had PF it started like this- felt as though I'd stepped on a lego brick and it was still stuck in my heel.
Stretching was what helped eventually, mainly doing heel dips on the stairs.

Now I have fucked up my other foot. I remembered that I had orthotics (that were fitted by a podiatrist) in my walking boots, so I took them out and put them in a pair of trainers which I wore all day yesterday. I am assuming it was that which led to an aching twingey instep in my other foot. I have belatedly remembered that you are meant to build up to continuous use. So now both feet are buggered Sad🔫

Sounds like PF to me. I had it for years and steroid injection did not work. Saw an orthopaedic foot specialist and he showed me a stretch that totally sorted it, unlike other stretches I had been shown. This one involved putting your foot up against a skirting board with your heel on the floor and then pushing forward so you get a deep stretch in the back of your calf. It's a bit like tennis elbow - can go on for years but gets sorted eventually.

I think I know the stretch that you mean. My dd said she would join me in daily stretches (to make sure that I do them)

I had the steroid injection that worked for four years but mine is starting to come back again.
Yoga is helping and also never going bare foot but as soon as I can I'm going to try and get the injection again.

The nice thing about the stretches is you get instant relief if you do them right.

I’ve had PF under my foot a few times but had it about 9 months now in my heel
So painful. I’m at my mums for lockdown as she’s housebound, wish I’d thought to bring my splint/boot for bedtime as that’s the best thing to ever work
I’m Doing stretches at the moment to help it

Have you actually tried your GP or are you just assuming?

Ours are doing virtual apt’s and very easy to get in with right now.
