Anal fissure (I think!) is so painful

Hi everyone,

I promise I'm not a poo troll. I wish I was so I wasn't dealing with this though!

On Sunday, I admittedly (I will never again) held in a bowel movement for hours. Since going to the toilet later that day, it has felt like I am shitting broken glass and I am starting to panic as last night and this morning I've had an upset stomach and nausea and hoping it's unrelated!

I'm not completely sure it is a fissure but that's what I assume as it's extremely painful to pass stool or to even tense my bum and it's even stingy when I sit down! There is also some blood and mucus in my stoolSad I don't know what to do, I don't think it's a matter for the doctor or 111 and especially at the moment, so do I just sit tight and wait for it to clear up?

I'm actually getting really worried about this. I've had what I again assume is an anal fissure before but never like thisSad

Hi @calipico . Have to admit I get this sometimes but I've never had mucus. I've had it where there's been a bit of blood but it then clears sooner than it came. I suppose your body didn't react well to you holding it in all day and these were your after effect. After it happens to me it stings for a good few hours. Happens to hubby as well. I would monitor it today and if nothing gets better just ring 111 for advice just got piece of mind. Hope you feel better soon xx

I'd speak to a pharmacist or your gp over the phone.

I've had both fissures and haemorrhoids. Both very painful. I had a fissure diagnosed by a doctor. They gave me some cream called diltiazem which heals it. The second time, they gave me the cream again, but I had a bad reaction to it. So instead they gave me some cream for the pain, and it healed without the diltiazem. Third time, it turned out it was a haemorrhoids, but a particularly painful one.

Hemorrhoid cream will make your world much less painful drink loads and never hold it in again
