Crohn's & Azathioprine

I'm wondering if anyone has taken Azathioprine or another immunosuppressant for Crohn's and when they're in remission had it reduced or stopped and what happened next.

Ds2 is seeing his Gastro & Paed tomorrow and he's doing so well on Azathioprine, I'm wondering if they'll want to reduce the dose or stop it completely.

Wish I could be helpful, but I'll bump as there are a load of mad threads just being posted.

May be wait 15 mins till to ac's (active convos) subside and you will get an answer.

Boy did I get my timing wrong tonight - you are so right!

Yes, not sure what started it, but genuine threads will drop off quickly. Do feel for you.

Bump - sorry don't have any advice, but hopefully someone can help.

MegaLegsMacarthur · 11/09/2007 21:57

Will bump this for you but even on a normal night you wouldn't get many people with the expertise or experience to help you.

Sorry weeble, I think this one is quite esoteric. Good luck to your DS2 though!

weebleswobble · 11/09/2007 22:08

You're right Megalegs, but I was just hoping on the offchance that there might be someone who had been in this situation and could stop me from laying awake wondering tonight.

What time is the appointment tomorrow? Did they give you any indication from last visit?

weebleswobble · 11/09/2007 22:26

It's 2.45 tomorrow. They didn't tell me how long he would need to be taking immunosuppresssants and to be perfectly honest, he's been so well and only picked up pneumonia once, rather than every infection going, that I'd be happy to leave things as they are. That might sound strange, but it's preferable to having a Crohn's flare-up.

My concern is that if he's taken off them or has the dose reduced, his white count will go up and it could trigger a flare-up - back to hospital and tube feeding.

I think a stiff drink is in order tonight to knock me out and make me sleep

Well I hope it goes well tomorrow and may be you could speak about your concerns with the Gastro & Paed then.

One stiff drink, good idea.

funnypeculiar · 11/09/2007 22:47

bump, and good luck for tomorrow

WotsZePoint · 12/09/2007 00:05
