i know this may sound odd but my DS, 21 months, has really smelly breath. i clean his teeth twice daily, he doesnt have lots of sugary treats etc but his breath stinks.

does anyone else have this problem?
is it normal or is it something i should be worried about?

he hasnt visited a dentist yet as we all know the problems trying to get to see one these days

I usually notice mine do when they are coming down with something. Is usually a sure sign.

Pollyanna · 10/09/2007 19:30

might he have a sore throat? That can cause smelly breath.

BandofMothers · 10/09/2007 19:31

Sometimes when they wake up from a sleep. Morning, or afternoon, breath

Does he eat food that might make his breath smell???

vnmum · 10/09/2007 19:38

he seems to have it all the time so i dont think its a cold. he does seem worse first thing in the morning and after a nap but sometimes its still smelly after hes had breakfast and teeth cleaned.

he does eat food with spices, garlic etc in as we do but its not a garlic smell.

as long as it doesnt seem anything to worry about then i'll just carry on a s normal and try my best to get him in to see a dentist

It can be a sign of sinus problems. Apparently its sometimes hard to diagnose in children. My DS's breath smell when his sinuses are playing up.
