He is teething (can this cause temperature) but seems reasonably happy, little bit clingy and feels red hot to touch.

Should I be concerned?

Hiya Wilkie, now I'm NOT a doctor but... I've just found something on google that says over 39 is more of a problem and that's the stage at which you talk to a doctor. How long ago have you given him calpol? Is it having any effect?

Poor little lamb. My DS used to get raging tempertures and it is really scary, isn't it. And why growing teeth would cause a fever is one of the mysteries of the world if you ask me.

This is not too high. Try cooling him with a lukewarm cloth. Hope he's ok.

PeachesMcLean · 09/09/2007 08:28

this is what I was looking at

Wilkie · 09/09/2007 08:29

Thanks Peaches (hope you are OK and not having upsets over containers again)

I have been googling too and it also says to pay attention to how they are and he is currently racing around the lounge blowing raspberries!!!!

I panic when he gets a temp cos he was in hosp at 10 days old with a high temp and they were checking for meningitis/GBS etc etc and every time he gets a temp now I panic (stupid I know).

He has been teething for about two weeks I just wish they would hurry up and cut!! We are off on hols tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Calpol and Nurofen have bought it down but keeps going back up.

My little one had such temperature, I thought it was teething, but was told teething would not produce such high temperature. If he is a bit clingy he is probably not feeling ok.
Mine would often start with a temperature, and then the reason for the temperature would be apparent within the next day or two, with for example a cold, or chest infection, or something. Sometimes he would have temeperature like that for a few days, not appear ill, and then it would pass. Sorry, I am probably not helpful, but if he still has a temperature tomorrow, and you cant work out why, take him to the docs for reassurance.

PeachesMcLean · 09/09/2007 08:33

Oh dear I'm not going to live that one down am I

Racing and raspberries always a good sign!

PeachesMcLean · 09/09/2007 20:35

How's he doing this evening Wilkie?

Wilkie · 09/09/2007 20:40

Still has temp but has been reasonably happy most of the day. Keeps tugging on one ear so I am concerned it may be infected - bloody typical as we are off on hols tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, that's Baby Trickery that is. He knows you're going on holiday and decides to chuck around a few illness symptoms just to wind you up. Guaranteed on the eve of any big occasion

Going somewhere nice?

Wilkie · 09/09/2007 20:52

Center Parcs - Sherwood Forest. It's out first holiday as a threesome (although Mum and Dad are coming too) so am really excited.

Think I am gonna run him up to the GP in the morning for a quick once over before we leave just to be on the safe side. I am 99% sure it is teeth.

Oooh, lurverly! Never been to a Centreparcs myself so am jealous.

And I hope you get some peace of mind from the doc.

Wilkie · 09/09/2007 21:26

Thanks mate. So do I. Temperatures terrify me!
