I need so much sleep

I'm 32 and need 9-10 hours every night. I fall asleep between 8-8.30 the second my head hits the pillow. I then sleep solidly and soundly until 6 when my alarm goes off. I usually get up quite easily and feel refreshed.

This isn't new. I've been with my husband 8 years and he says he's never known me different. If I try and stay awake later or curb my sleep to 7-8 hrs I feel miserable.

Anyone else? The anxiety in me and has convinced that there's a problem.

Have you had blood tests to look into a cause? Thyroid, iron and b12 in particular need to be checked.

LividLaughLovely · 15/03/2020 04:19

If you sleep solidly, get up easily and feel refreshed, what’s the problem?

(9 months pg, thyroid problem, 3hrs sleep tonight = jealous!)

dtc24 · 15/03/2020 04:22

Also in the 9 month pregnant with three hours sleep and jealous club.

8-8.30 is very early to settle down for the night, do you never go out or entertain? What happens when you go on holiday? I'm only wondering, not criticising.

When I was at work I would often happily go to sleep early but not all the time. Getting up at 6am every day would have been very difficult for me, it was hard enough at 7-7.30am and I always had a lie in at weekends.

When I reached mid forties I started waking up very early, it all happened quite naturally. I actually found it a bit of a pain!

I don't think you have a problem. If it works for you, that's fine. It probably means your husband is on his own for half the evening but if he doesn't mind, so what?

Sleep is lovely, my favourite past time :-).

dtc and Livid - when I was pregnant I slept solidly every night and woke feeling refreshed. The best nights' sleep I ever had. I do sympathise with you.

Same, DH is the same also!

You’re fine so long as you (like us) don’t have children. Enjoy all the sleep and naps you want! Grin

I'm the same. I sleep from 8-5 most nights. It's just my body clock.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 15/03/2020 05:40

Ooh jealous here. I used to be in the 9hrs solid crew. Now I’m lucky if I get three. Also 8 months pregnant

flutterby31 · 15/03/2020 06:20

Yes dh spends the evenings alone but goes out 2-3 times a month. I go out 2-3 times a year.

As has been suggested I would go for a check up just to make sure there is nothing underlying. Chances are there isn't and you are just someone who needs plenty of sleep. 😴

Nogodsnomasters · 15/03/2020 08:37

I'm the same, I wake around 6.30-7 every morning and I fall asleep between 8.30-9.30 so between 9-10hrs sleep. There are some handful of nights I work to 9pm and by the time I get home home, eat, get changed and wind down I'm not asleep to 11.30pm and I'm always drained the day after with only 6-7hrs. I recently was tested for thyroid, b12, folates, iron etc my iron levels were considered "just out of normal range" but everything else was fine.

When I was younger and had no kids I'd naturally sleep for 9-10hrs at weekends when I had no alarm set and about 8hrs during working week/school week as a student. When I had ds5 he was a poor sleeper and for a number of years I lived on 4-6hrs per night and was a zombie, I think my body is trying to get back to my old normal the last 18 months and I'm no longer used to that!

Nogodsnomasters · 15/03/2020 08:38

Oh I forgot to say I'm 31 so similar age to you.
