Yep after 2 days at school she brings home her first thing.
She is very itchy, only a few spots but her temp is near 39, she is happy but scratchy
Know calamine and piriton are useful
Please anything elseI need to know?

calamine with aqueous stops them drying out. lots of ice lollies and cuddles (and wine for you.) Keep her out of the sun.

Apart from patience... good luck, keep smiling!

AllieBongo · 08/09/2007 09:38

not the spots from drying out, the skin around. the calamine is only soothing when it is wet

put a handful of porridge oats into an (old) sock / end of a pair of tights.

tie it to your bath tap.

run the bath, making sure the water goes through the porridge oats.

enjoy a lovely bath - you can use the sock full of oats as a sponge too.

repeat as necessary.

Lots of cool baths.
Gloves/mittens on during night to limit the amount of scratching and therefore scaring that can be done.
Calamine.
Bicarbonate of soda in bath.

Someone told me they do a calamine cream which is easier to deal with than lotion!

DD had this in the hols for the second time but it was just very mild thankfully.

Some children are hit worse than others with the spots and whether they feel ill or not.

Hope she's okay.

grouchyoscar · 08/09/2007 10:01

Put another big up for Calamine Cream. It stays put and doesn't slide off on the sheets.

Hope she's OK

bigdonna · 08/09/2007 10:46

i used a homeopathic tablet called rus tox this worked on the inside to help with the itchiness.my dd was only 4 so crushed the very small tablet and moxed with jam good luck hope she feels better soon

missgriss · 08/09/2007 10:49

Another vote for bi-carbonate of soda in the bath. Also keep layering on the calamine cream.

Oh what bad luck to get it just as she starts school
How badly has she got it?
Some great advice here on how to relieve symtoms.
For your santy get in lots of books and dvds from the library so you can snuggle up on the sofa.
Do you have other dcs?

Piffle · 08/09/2007 18:06

not badly at all atm
a few spots on her chest, she scratched in the night quite badly and several are to be seen on one arm.
How quickly does it advance?
She ahs temperatire and a bit poorly but otherwise ab fab.
Maybe it's not the pox after all...
maybe?

My dd had it at age 4. It was horrific, ended up in hospital on a drip. Check my profile and pictures and you will see. I think if i remember rightly, you get new spots every 4-5days. Keep her fluids up.
