and it's starting to hurt a bit - but I'm scared to try and take any painkillers as I'm a wuss and need to wash them down with water.....and I'm scared of them hurting/starting to bleed again - what do I do???

The whole visit was just horrible, plain horrible 6 injections to number one side of my mouth and 1 on the other side for a filling. The sound of the drill made me feel sick, I was only in there 15 minutes but I left "dents" in the cushioning of the arm of the chair I was gripping it that tightly - and not only am I talking strangely I'm scared about when the numbness completely goes

QoQ-hope your painkillers are kicking in!
was on your thread yesterday-sorry it was so horrible today.
maybe don't bother brushing your teeth tonight?

sandcastles · 07/09/2007 13:48

QoQ, that's it! Horrible, isn't it! telling the truth here, that is how I get when I have a dental appointment & I have been a dental nurse for 15 years....I think it is worse when you know what they are doing!

Either brush with just water & swallow or avoid for tonight.

5 years ago I had 18 teeth out in 1 morning at the dentsist just by local, the dentist told me to get the big (10p size) disovable paracetamol, they did work.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 07/09/2007 16:51

I haven't actually taken any more painkillers since those ones at 11.30......the top one is bit sore/achey but bearable and the bottom one seems to be ok........am I building myself up for a shock - is the pain likely to get worse (local wore off ages ago) or have I just been quite lucky and this is it??

well it's not too bad this morning - strangely the "gaps" themselves aren't too bad at all - bottom one I could easily forget I'd had it out....but the gum above and slightly "back" in my mouth of the top one feels like someone scratched/cut it and the jaw is a bit "achy" above it......otherwise fairing well.......apart from the fact I think I'm going to lose a few lbs in the next few days as I naturally mostly chew on the left side of my mouth......and I can't atm so trying to chew mainly on the right is proving rather slow and difficult

Sounds quite normal, for what it is worth!

It is an odd feeling tryiing to chew on the other side, but you will get used to it.

Hope you continue to be painfree(ish).
