Gallstones - HELP just been confirmed

Evening,
Today I had a ultra sound after many episodes of excruciating pains in my tummy. After trying to get along with daily life my husband finally convinced me to go to the doctors. The ultra sound showed my gallbladder along with many stones inside. I'm relived to finally have an answer to the pain I've been experiencing.
To anyone who has gone through it or going through it, once I see the doctor to go through solutions if it ends up being surgery. (Keyhole or open) how long would I expect to wait?
It's just curiosity so I can manage expectations, my attacks are fairly frequent and not sure how much longer I can continue until being seen (if that is the desired outcome).

Any other tips on coping with this would be appreciated along with tips after surgery. No idea what to expect!

I was offered surgery about 4 months after diagnosis.

In the meantime a very low fat, boring diet will help. Fat, garlic and spicy foods all made mine worse until it came out.

agree cut out any fat
make sure they check there are no stones in the biliary tree as they leave that behind

I had gallstones diagnosed a couple of years ago. Luckily not needed any surgery. Biggest tip I can think of is reduce your fat intake. I find full fat cheese is especially bad for setting off my pain.

I was diagnosed with gallstones at the beginning of March last year and by end of July I still didn’t even have a date. When I called the hospital I was told to expect to wait at least 6-8 months for a date. I’m south east London so I’m assuming every where differs. I ended up with pancreatitis, hospitalised and had it out 10 days later. The surgery itself was a breeze. Woke up feeling immediately better, walking around within a few hours and was home the next evening. Recovery was pretty good and managed well with pills. A week after surgery I went on holiday and did too much so put myself back a bit. No one else’s fault but my own. Struggled with diary and wheat for a few months afterwards but now, apart from 4 small scars, I’m perfectly back to normal.

Thanks guys, appreciate your tips and insights. I've had 2 sections in 2 years so surgery on the abdomen is/ has been frequent for me! However this is different and it's tough... fingers crossed I can get in the system and I'll get to feeing better after surgery (lets hope they recommend!) xx
