My father apparently made medical history in 1931 when his spleen was removed. It was sent to Edinburgh University medical school. I don't remember him being on any additional medication.

My DH doesn't have a spleen and has had a kidney transplant. His hospital are prescribing him an additional drug to further support his immune system. Perhaps speak to your consultant, if you can.

My ex husband had his spleen out when he was in his teens (can’t remember now why)
We got together when we were both 25
He never took anything!!!

yorkshirejoe just caught up with the thread. I am a civil servant, all people on the nationwide list of vulnerable conditions were sent home to work on Monday. No spleen was specifically included on the list. (If you have a laptop and a job that can be done at home) If you don't have a laptop then you have been sent home on full pay for 12 weeks (initially) .. Damn my laptop !

My mum's spleen is no longer functioning but has not been removed. She has been on antibiotics for 20+ years, since her early 60s.

I read somewhere (sorry can't remember where), that immunocompromised people might show milder (or less traditional) symptoms of CV as their body can't put up a normal immune response, but are at an increased risk of serious complications. Therefore, you should take any symptons seriously.
Has anyone seen anything similar?
