Erm, not wishing to cast any nasturtiums on anyone's private life, but it is (I have heard) possible that too much vigorous bumsex can cause problems in this area. But even if that is the cause of it, a doctor won't care, it's not his/her job to care how anyone got them.

thomcat · 05/09/2007 16:16

LOL, yes was a typo! I have no need of any such man; this week

Twinkie1 · 05/09/2007 16:19

I had a fissure was more painful than giving birth - go to the doctors.

Showing my little sore bottom hole to the doctor was the most embarrassing thing I have ever had to do - he was old nd lovely and kept telling me I had a lovely bum and he should know because he had seen many in his long career!

Mine gave me some cream and told me it would give me headaches so only use a very small amount - by this time I was a nutty fat woman with a sore bum and screamed - I will be rubbing it on my bum! How the fuck will it give me headaches!!

Worked though.

Im sure that has been the cause of many a trip to the doctor (or A & E) madamez.

I'm sure that my DP would love to have been the cause of my current woes, sadly - for him, its most definitely a one way street around my way

LOL at thomcat's typo

I have booked an appointment for Friday - earliest I could get. Unfortunately it's with a GP who once told me I was "a big girl anyway". This was when pg with DD and visiting a nurse for something else. She saw I had severe swelling, and my BP was raised too. She got me to go and see the only available GP at the time in the practise and it was him. He had a prod of my ridiculously swollen legs and then passed comment on my size.

I'm really not keen on what his assessment of my arsehole may be.

Good luck. Hope you find some relief

Ouch, poor you, have you tried anything on it? I have had a fissure and used to use anusol to reduce the pain a bit (it contains a local anaesthetic), also vaseline to lubricate when pooing if it is at all hard. Try and get your poo nice and soft so you don't have to strain at all (I use lactulose and senokot if necessary, drink plenty of water and eat loads of soft juicy fruit e.g. melon) and try not to wipe much (wash instead). In the end I was prescribed diltiazem cream which worked quite well although it has never really healed completely .

BTW I found the bum exam not as bad as I had imagined it would be!

There are quite a few threads on here about fissures if you do a search - they are very common.

Mum's bums eh?

twentypence · 05/09/2007 20:45

Dh has just had his done - they gave him great drugs I've not seen him for cheerful for about 2 years!

mymatemax · 05/09/2007 23:24

same problems here, I went last week & the doctor took delight in telling me that I am prone to piles as I have varicous veins in my legs as well!
Now I feel like i've turned in to my mother.

Anyway the doc gave me some cream (a much milder version of the stuff that angina patients spray in their mouth) sorry i'm not very good at the technical stuff. But she said I had piles & a fissure & I've been taking ds2's lactulose & the cream, things are improving, not so much radiator gripping & silent screaming going on.

jellycat · 07/09/2007 14:34
