111 or not

Around 6pm this evening I had just got back from a hectic childcare pick up/stressful afternoon of meetings and suddenly had a terrible headache, hives all over my body, felt very irritable and then proceeded to have horrible stomach cramps which sent me straight to my bed. Should I call 111 as I am still feeling ropey, hives have now headed up to my upper body! Not allergic to anything, and nothing environmental has changed either.

Of you are worried then do so. They can take you through the correct questions and advise you. Nobody on the internet can do so.

Glitterb · 20/02/2020 22:22

Absolutely, any sudden headaches should be checked out

Isadora2007 · 20/02/2020 22:23

Is the headache still there? If so- yes. If not, no.

innuendobingo · 20/02/2020 22:23

Headache did clear after 2 paracetamol but never get headaches normally. This was very sudden and painful.

Call 111 to be on the safe side.

Ugh now hives have spread to my face, so I have a whole body full! Nice

Phone them then ?? That's what 111 are for, not mumsnet??

foamrolling · 20/02/2020 22:40

Do you have any anti histamines you can take? Or anyone to send out to get some? You can usually get them in a supermarket or garage.

Isadora2007 · 20/02/2020 22:42

Some migraines can have a rash or hives. I don’t think 111 will be much help and it’s late. Is it an emergency? Doesn’t sound like it can’t wait til the morning and the GP to be honest.

innuendobingo · 21/02/2020 01:21

No antihistamines , just woke myself up madly itching. Body is bright red with hives now

Have you called 111?

innuendobingo · 21/02/2020 01:31

No as I fell asleep earlier, I think I might now

Are your airways clear and your breathing ok? If not then A&E straight away.

If your breathing is fine and no swelling inside your mouth then probably less of an emergency.

TabbyStar · 21/02/2020 07:08

I'm a little concerned about the headache, have you sought any advice OP?

Finally got back to sleep around 6am, woken up to a mild headache , more itching and what feels like a temperature (haven't checked it right now). Think I will call GP at 8:30. Have to go into work this morning 9-1 as covering (in a hospital as it happens!).

Seems to match Sudden Mastocystosis

I wouldn’t be going in to work feeling like that especially in a hospital

Just an update: I went into work yesterday and headed straight to the pharmacy for piriton , took it and half an hour later felt so ropey that my manager and I started to make our way over to ED. Unfortunately I had barely stepped out of our office before I collapsed so I was taken down there in a wheelchair (embarrassing!) and various tests ran. Ended up being given Oral steroids etc, hives settled down , then reappeared again in the early evening, managed to get them to go away and woke up this morning covered again!!

Apparently it has been a reaction to an internal infection, so I guess I will just have to wait it out. Finding aloe Vera gel and baths with porridge oats in them very helpful for now.

Must say, I was triaged and seen within 15 minutes of arriving , which I was very greatful for (super busy ED here too)
