Dental implants question

I am having treatment for periodontal disease at a dental hospital. My NHS dentist has advised that despite having this treatment, because of bone loss I will need to consider options for tooth replacement. I understand if I want to try implants these are not available on the NHS so will have to seek this privately.
My question is, how do I choose who to consult? Presumably there are different costs according to where in the country you are, and different levels of expertise within the profession. It's not exactly like asking a neighbour to recommend a plumber..

My mum had some implants placed a few years ago, and her dentist recommended a specialist. Your dentist should be able to suggest someone they rate - my surgery is a mix of NHS and private and has an implant guy comes in once a month.

My mum needed to have bone grafts because she had lost bone, which meant that the process took longer. She was fitted with a temporary denture in the meantime because it was two front teeth.

My dentist (who is lovely ) doesn't do implants and just said that there are lots of places to go to that do them, and just go for a consultation.

But I can see even initial consultations vary hugely in price, and I don't know why that is, and if that has a bearing on the efficacy of the treatment, or if I just would be paying a higher price for lovelier surroundings.
I don't have much spare money, and would be happy sitting on a bucket in a yard. I just want to know my poor dentition will be in the best possible hands.

The implant should roughly cost £1000
The implant retained crown or bridge is roughly £1000 per unit
Bone grafting if necessary £450
Sinus lift if in that region and necessary £450-£650

For a straight forward single implant with an implant retained crown it's £2000.00

Your dentist should know the local implantologists and be able to recommend one.

Xrays are roughly £30 for the large one. Although if you are already having treatment at hospital you may already have one. Ct scan isn't always necessary but roughly £100.00
