Not for me, but close family member. Got results back of lumpectomy today and they need to do more surgery now and treat with radiotherapy after. Anyone got any experience? Please.......

You can call Macmillan Cancer Support on 0808 808 2020. The Breast Cancer nurse who has been assigned to me is a paliative care nurse. I'm sure your MIL's nurse would know about the treatment available.

It's a lot to take in. My aunt was treated for other cancers, and in the beginning she was very very tired and couldn't look after herself. After 15 years she's been given the all-clear.

I don't know how you find out about treatment centres or what's available. There is a nurse that you can contact at BreastCancerCare.

I'm quite young to be diagnosed with BC, but they say it is very common and age is less of an issue than they first thought.

Thank you all for all your posts.

MrsMarvel - that's the sort of thing I was worried about and I think that after her operation, we will need to bring her home here with us for a while and see how she gets on. Is your father's operation quite recent, or has he had to have ongoing care of the wound for a while.

I took MIL out for lunch today for which she was grateful and glad to get out of the house. She's a lot more settled than she was the other day and is glad we're seeing the breast care nurse on Friday. Like she said today, what can she do, other than trust them to look after her and wait for treatment and jump each hurdle as she approaches it, so that's a lot more positive that she was on Monday when we got the results.
