After giving up for 4 months earlier in the year then starting again, then giving up for 4 weeks after reading Allen Carr I am now back on the fags.

As usual it started with the odd one, and now managing to get til lunchtime but then smoking in afternoon and evening (bout 7 a day).

I am so disappointed in myself, I cant face giving up again and failing. I dont even feel ready to try again at the moment

Aaagh, im at the 4 week mark and still doing ok (i think).
Don't beat yourself up too much, if your not ready your not ready.
Try reading Alan Carr again.

ah you poor thing !!! i so sympathise.

Hypnotherapy worked for me in the end, as i just had no willpower.

my dp did it by willpower though, but boy did he suffer side effects - increased BP from the lozenges and anger and irritability mainly. 20-30 per day for 20 yrs will do that to you.

you can do it !! don't be disappointed. smoking is an addiction, and a very hard one to overcome. what was your reason for starting again ?

with me, it was always a glass of wine down the pub. so we stopped going to the pub, then i got preggers and we've never looked back. i had 2 the other weej and thoroughyl enjoyed them, but don't think i will ever properly smoke again. if you can identify your trigger and then try to avoid it maybe that will help !

anyway, don't beat yourself up. just psyche yourself up to trying again when you're ready.

Every time you quit you LEARN something. You learn not to make the same mistake again.
And the one thing that always gets you in this mess is having one fag.
Accept that there will be no more Just Ones in your life.
You HAVE to leave them behind no matter WHAT happens.
whyquit.com for brainwashing.

Mosschps - you will know when you are ready to give up smoking again. Don;t push yourself to do it beforehand

When you are - don't read Allen Carr's Easyway. Invest in a new book - Allen Carr's The Only Way to Give Up Smoking Permanently. Psychologically it will be fresh ground for you.

Four weeks was a very good start by the way Bet you loved and hated that first cigarette in equal measure?

mosschops30 · 02/09/2007 21:20

thanks for your support, youre much more positive than me.

I have given up loads (over 11 months when pg and after). Sadly I never learn and keep repeating the old mistakes.

I am having a mahoosive girls weekend away next weekend so I might start next sunday when I have the hangover from hell and have to get up at 6am for flight home!!

Sorry Moss, but that's a crumby time to give up. Don't set unattainable goals. We all know how we feel the afternoon after the night before
