What the heck are these two lumps on my abdomen?

Since October I have had the worst abdominal bloating ever. I'm slim so it's really pronounced! My GP ran bloods and it showed I have an underactive thyroid and I started on treatment for that and my bloods are now normal. As the bloating didn't go away my GP referred me to a GI surgeon and he recommended an endoscopy and stomach biopsy. The endoscopy showed mild gastritis, negative for H Pylori and the biopsy results for coeliac should be here in 6 weeks.
My bloating is still so bad I'm struggling to eat so I'm going back to my GP tomorrow. I also have these weird lumps on my abdomen when I lean back slightly. This photo is first thing this morning. By nighttime they are huge! Anyone know what this is? Maybe something gynaecological? I'm going to ask for an abdominal unltrasound but thought I would ask what it might be before I go. Thanks.

Surely Mumps are in your neck and kidneys are around the back, either side of your spine...

@ElizabethinherGermanGarden not sure but probably not. I've not felt unwell which I imagine I would with mumps. I've also had the mumps vaccine I'm sure.
Three bloating is just awful but doesnt really show up on the photo as I took it first thing in the morning.

I do see lumps, but not where you circled. I have a 3 inch in length lump on my lower left abdomen right above my bladder. It's a growing ovarian cyst. I've known about it for years. Do you have any other symptoms? My. First were occasion painful sex ( angles) , difficulty peeing, and spotting.

Hi did you ever figure out what this was? I have the exact same 2 lumps on my abdomen that feel like muscle and I also have bad bloating! I’m skinny too and they’re only rlly visible when I lean back slightly and there’s a gap in the middle with nothing!

If you look at a picture of the structure and location of your large bowel (which is made of muscle) you might get a bit more idea of how gas or constipation will appear, especially if you are quite slim. Google images will probably have some diagrams.

Did you get anywhere with this? I have something similar on my right hand side that comes and goes - moves position it’s sooo weird. Feels like I muscle too at times. Not noticeable to look at it’s when I lie on my back mostly. Ultrasound was clear after doctor had wondered if it was my womb. She basically has no idea and is referring me to someone else. I’ve had 3 c sections last one 9 months ago and wonder if it’s anything to do with this.

I'm the OP but changed username since this thread. I think these lumps I had were gas caused by food intolerances related to my newly diagnosed hypothyroidism. I cut out lactose (switched to Arla lactose free milk) and they disappeared! If I can't get lactose free milk and use normal milk they come back along with gas and stomach pain. I drink lots of milk- have 2 or 3 frothy lattes per day and always have gluten free muesli for breakfast each day.

I came across your post when googling this as I’ve had exactly the same type of lumps since February now. They are only really visible when I lean back (added photo), but I’ve definitely noticed significant bloating and swelling in my tummy which I can’t seem to get rid of.

My diet hasn’t changed and I’ve been lactose free for several years, but I did stop the continual pill after 6 years in February so I wondered if it was hormonal changes causing them. I’ve also gained a bit of weight and noticed my tummy area is bigger than before, but it’s hard to the touch so I don’t think it’s increased fat.

I’m curious, did you notice any weight gain when the lumps became visible, and any weight loss since you’ve changed your diet? Thanks!

@Reyofsunshine no my weight wasn't really affected by them. My tummy swelling increased as the day wore on I think. I would see your GP.
My GP quickly checked my CA125 to rule out ovarian cancer and this was negative thank goodness. Have you had your thyroid levels checked?
My issues were down to my thyroid-sluggish metabolism and lactose and gluten intolerance. Once I cut these foods out my shape changed. Also related to peri menopausal symptoms so yes may be hormonal as you suspected since stripping your pill. Good luck!

I saw him already in Feb and my bloods came back ok. I was treated for gastritis and stomach ulcer - both stress induced, negative for h.pyl. I also saw my gyno who did an ultrasound and confirmed my ovaries were ok, so that’s ruled out.
I’m 35 and not had children so it’s possible it’s perimenopause (not great for my fertility hopes if that is the case though 😂)
I’ve had two burn outs in the last year so maybe it’s just related to that 😕 frustrating when you can’t seem to get a clear diagnosis but I’m happy for you that you were able to get to the bottom of the problem!

Hello did anyone find out what it was related to? I have the same two bumps when leaning back but can’t see them normally, I struggle with some digestive issues anyway but just wanted to see if anyone got answer for these lumps? Thanks

Hi, yes, mine turned out to be bloating due to a hormonal imbalance from stopping the pill. I started seed-cycling which really helped - both the bumps and weight gain from water retention went away and I fell pregnant a few months later 😅

Omg I have the same problem, been told it’s gastritis but they are getting bigger and when I lie down and pull up a bit they really protude And i get a dent kind of thing in the middle of my stomach, every test I have is showing no serious condition but it is worrying me so much
