Severe severe eczema

Looking for some help... my partner suffers from extremely severe eczema - to the point where he is home bound probably at least once a week when it gets so bad.

His skin is constantly flaking, he is always itching, it seeps and it always red and enflamed. This is all over his body.

He is at the docs every other week, he has visited dermatologists, nutritionists, hospital... nothing seems to work for him. Understandably this gets him very down and is affecting his daily life. We are due a baby in July and the way his skin is now, it's gonna be hard when he is basically bed bound for days when his skin is infected and seeping.

Does anyone have any miracle cures from personal experience? My heart just aches for him as it's sooo bad 😟

Has he had sunbed therapy at the hospital?
The trouble with excema is that everybody reacts better/worse to each thing.
my dd ( adult) has severe excema and has had x2 separate rounds of sunbed therapy - it definately helps her even if it doesn't clear it up,
medications have been mentioned - these tend to be quite toxic
A good 3 week course of steroids also usually helps
She cannot use E45, aveeno or any of the other "lotions and potions" people suggest
she has some stuff on prescription and also buys "avene" from Boots which is expensive but suits her reccomended by a private dermatologist.
Her skin is definately helped by the sun so regular hot holidays but can only use "sun sense" sun cream dlse she ends up in a foreign hospital needing anaphylaxis rescue!
We have been dealing with her severe skin since she was 2 1/2 - it's bloody tough but because most people think they know whats its all about they don't understand.
Also her and her partner shower before bed as she racts to products on his skin too
all her washing is separate, extra rinses and different wash liquid to the rest of us.
sorry not much help, bit of a moan, hope you find some solutions

I imagine you’re already doing the following but just in case:

Keep the house cool. Central heating makes my eczema worse

Use half the amount of washing powder as it tells you to on the box. I assume you’ve tried different powders and you’re not using fabric softener at all?

Don’t over dress. Skin needs to breathe.

Sunlight treatment via the hospital.

My miracle cure is Eucerin lotion 10%. Before I discovered it I had tried about 30 different creams, some prescribed and some not. Eucerin is the ONLY one that keeps my skin comfortable. It’s amazing. I only have to apply it every other day whereas other creams it was twice a day.

But before trying any new creams I think the red raw bits need treating first.

Have they ever tested for fungal causes?

Also, avoid the temptation to use a thick layer of cream. This is what would make my skin weep.

Along the same lines, PAT (never rub) dry with a smooth towel before applying cream.

Doctors have previously advised me to apply cream straight out of the shower while my skin is still wet but doing this definitely inflames it.
