Ketogenic diet for medical reasons?

My dh has been recommended a ketogenic diet to treat his ME. This was by an NHS nutritionist at the Royal Free, so we are ok for medical advice but i was wondering if people have good suggestions for recipes- particularly breakfast etc. We are used to catering for dietary requirements but this is almost a flip of the low fat fodmap diet he's been on to date and we are both a bit nervous. In particular he doesn't need to lose weight and everything online is all about the amazing weight loss effects of this diet. So how to keep up the calorie intake? Thanks for suggestions

Have a look at the threads in the Low-Carb Boot camp topic. Although the majority of people on there are doing it to lose weight, some people have reached their target weight and are maintaining.

It's HFLC (High Fat Low Carb) so all about eating real food and becoming ketogenically adapted. There are also a load of recipe threads pinned (and a couple: iirc, Seafood & Fish and Desserts and other sweet things, that aren't pinned but if you scroll down you'll find them) for inspiration.

It's pretty easy to keep the calories up; plenty of meat and buttered veggies and he's sorted.

Thanks. Sounds nicer than his current diet in many ways!

I think lots of people bulk it up with lashings of cheese etc. You definitely eat much more meat than you usually would too. Larger portions will help him maintain his current calorie intake
