I have had on going fatigue for a few years now. I feel exhausted most of the time, 45, 4 young kids. Not periods menopause as still regular periods.

My BP is high, I'm on labetalol buy really need to change to some thing else.

Both is so high its damaged my sight. My Dr just keeps ordering repeat bloods. Everything is too high but they dont care as it's gone down very slightly.

The most recent tests are two hours after breakfast of porridge. I looked into a private gp appointment but the replied and said I need to see a consultant.

I dont know what to do? What kind of consultant do I need to ask for?

Have you had a thyroid function test? High cholesterol and pre-diabetes is a good indicator that it needs to be looked at.

Legoandloldolls · 28/01/2020 18:02

Sorry trying to add a photo but my memory is full. I cant see a thyroid test or any b vitamin tests. When it was tested years ago it was about 6.5

Ye that suggests your TSH was high already. It probably already has gotten worse - get the test

Legoandloldolls · 28/01/2020 18:15

If I went to the GP with fatigue ( think falling asleep.in soft play with a our year old tierd) why didnt they test it

No idea. Probably best to talk to them about it.

Bombaybunty · 28/01/2020 18:21

See a different GP. Do you know what your blood result was?

ivykaty44 · 28/01/2020 18:22

TSH over 4 is high and would give you symptoms
Tiredness, dry legs, memory issues, anxiety, confusion, feeling cold

We’re you put on any medication for your thyroid with a reading at 6.5 TSH?

yellowallpaper · 28/01/2020 18:22

What's your BMI? Being overweight can affect blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugars. I'm not sure what they are but those are the triad affected by weight. If normal thyroid and everything needs looking at. If your gp doesn't reach a conclusion then I would ask for someone else to look at things.

lettersbyowl · 28/01/2020 18:23

What is your hbA1c? ("Blood sugar")

Legoandloldolls · 28/01/2020 18:26

Results here. First one was after lunch but last week was two hours after a measured bowl of porridge

Yes I'm very over weight but again put on three-four stones since the fatigue. Even putting the washing out today made my arm muscles burn. So I am huffing and puffing feeling dizzy when I try to exercise more. I was at the gym six months pregnant six years ago.

Nothing for my high TSH. Gp at the time said they only worry with high BP and high cholesterol 🤔 It was high then but being 1 point over doesn't phase the GP. My quality of life is down the pan.

Ah my TSH said normal in Aug 1.66 miu/L. They have changed the test in litres so I dont know if it's up or down

What is your diet like? I have fairly severe hypothyroidism and PCOS and it doesn’t really cause you to gain that kind of weight if you eat healthily in the first place and scale your intake down with the lack of exercise.

Legoandloldolls · 28/01/2020 18:37

My diet is ok but could be better. It's mostly pasta and carbs. No crisps or chocolate, dont drink much but definitely eat too big portions. Was doing SW when pregnant but I didnt keep going when breast feeding. Maybe not a good idea!

If you’re overweight start reducing it.

Why do you think you need to change BP meds?
Pre diabetes same advice - reduce weight.

I’m not a doctor but I’m an 8 month heart attack survivor with the experience of high bp/weight and cholesterol.

Just don’t do it, it ain’t fun

ivykaty44 · 29/01/2020 21:03

Bunny

Well done on surviving, what the plan for you moving forward?

Bunnyfuller · 29/01/2020 21:12

Eat less, move more, keep taking the meds!

The eat less/move more has been a struggle with dark nights and cold weather but I’m still on cardiac rehab after several hospital stays and various tests and interventions.

It’s so easy to let it drift and you think it’ll never be you until you’re screaming to hospital on blues and twos and get a defib strapped on as the PPCI doors are opened by a sea of people in blue.

My heart will never be the same. Nor will my mind.

Oh my a very scary experience, I hope you’re getting plenty of support with everything
