Asthma

I have been diagnosed with asthma for years but actually had it for a few without realising that was what it was. Lately I've been seeing the nurse often and have felt well looked after. I have been on a new inhaler for a week. Today I have had trouble breathing. I have used my inhaler twice and haven't felt any relief. I am awaiting an ECG to rule out cardiac issues but can anyone give me any suggestions as to what I can do to feel better before my next appointment. Thank you.

What the the names of your inhalers ? You should have a reliever , eg something like ventolin to use when you feel breathless .

Ask the doctor about a preventer inhaler. As the name suggests, these prevent an asthma attack and have to be taken daily. You have to find the one that works for you.

My son uses Filixotide twice a day. It took a while to find a make that worked for him and at the correct dosage. I found talking to a nurse at Asthma UK very helpful too.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hello, you two.
So sorry for not replying. This fell off my TIO.
I didn't get to see my asthma nurse last month as we are in but I have managed to sort out a routine of what works for me.
I'm on the red and white inhaler every morning and evening and salbutomol for when I am really struggling.
Still waiting for my ECG but think it might have been forgotten.
Apologies again and thank you.
