Tampons going in one way and coming out the way! V painful, has anyone else had this?

I can't believe this is ending up as my first experience of putting something on Mumsnet, but none of my local friends have experienced it. Basically I have a 3 yr old and 8 month old. Last month my periods came back and I used my usual tampon, but it was difficult to get in, and when it came out it had turned around completely and came out top first, this continued throughout my period and I tried several different brands. It also feels like my insides are falling out when I go running..! Has this happened to anyone else as I am not sure whats going on?

Eek! I'd go to the doctors, if I was you. This doesn't sound at all normal.

But it happened more than once. Does anyone know about prolapse? I don't, but 'feels like my insides are falling out when I go running' rang an alarm.

Yes, it happened to me! My inseides were actually falling out. In fact, my insides used to chafe when taking the dog for a walk.
After some time, it all got drawn back up though. I did go to see my doctor, and she did say that one of the bits was probably my bladder and referred me to the hospital. I never went though and things eventually sorted themselves out.
Tampons are still a bit uncomfortable/difficult to get in.

If I were you I would find a doctor you are comfortable with and have them take a look

Tried larger tampons? Maybe not quite as, um, 'pert' down there as previously.
Odd that they turn 360 though...

Would be more concerned about the feeling of your insides falling out. Does sound prolapse-y to me. Get thee to a GP!

Yes! A mooncup will not only not turn upside down (god I hope not!!) but will also hold you innards in place

I was going to say that too Spidermama, as I have heard they are great for such "problems" but I have been banging on about getting one myself for months and never taken the plunge(r)

Bigger tampons are really quite difficult to get in with bits in the way Tigana . Lol at "pert"

I'd second a mooncup! I seemed to be the only one that could sneeze and my tampon would fall out . If you use larger tampons and your period is not heavy then they hurt to insert and remove. Def invest in a mooncup!

i have a prolaspe (yuk i know) abd use a mooncup. i do have to make sure it push it up high enough as other wise its like my body wants to reject it. cant use tampons for the reason you said, and find pads horrible

Thanks for all those suggestions! Have heard about mooncup, but I am afraid thats not for me! Don't think it would stayup anyway! This wasn't just a one off it happened throughout my period. Have booked an appt at Docs but with the Gynae nurse but its not until next week. Another friend said it sounded like a prolapsed uterus! Scarey but it all feels like everything has slumped down and is pushing out (its not, but I can feel it)!
I am and have always done my pelvic floor exercises but its got worse not better!

seriously, look into the mooncup. they arent as bad as they seem once you get over the initial idea of pouring blood away intead of binning it. less mess, less waste and no somersaulting tampons to contend with.

Can I but in please.... I had never heard of a mooncup (but have just read the link).

I suffer from v heavy periods and I can cope changing a megatampon every other hour in the day but have to get up to do so at least once a night. Would a mooncup last all night? Sorry to change the subject somewhat.

Willmouse IME a mooncup will certainly last all night. There's no tampon on earth can hold what a large size mooncup can.
