Blood test results query (CRP)

I just had my blood test results back via my hospital app and 1 of them seemed worryingly high. It was the CRP...it said normal range is 0-5 and mine was 35. Should I be worried? I generally get my results before my consultant has looked at them so I’m sure he’ll contact me if it were anything to worry about.
But in the meantime...should I be worried?

My last 2 blood tests (4 weeks and 9 weeks ago) the levels were 1 then 4. I went in to hospital yesterday due to pain with a condition i have suffered with for the past 10 years.

Does your condition have anything to do with your kidneys?

No, my kidneys have always been fine (to my knowledge) my condition is due (mainly) to a problem with my bile duct

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a test for inflammation. It could be raised because of an inflammatory disorder or due to an infection.

Not very high at all. People with severe infections CRP can be 300+. Ive had gastroenteritis and had my CRP done and it was 35, its an inflammatory marker.

Are you an inpatient or were you yesterday?
CRP reflects infection or inflammation.
Are they treating you for infection ?

It’s a non-specific market of inflammation. What it means for you depends entirely on what the medical problem you have that prompted them to check it is/what symptoms and treatment you’re having. Best person to advise you is your consultant.

No infection that I know of. I go in frequently for pain management when the pain is too bad to cope with at home. Thanks for your help everyone. I’ll wait and see if my consultant contacts me about it.

My sons reached 316, he had sepsis at that point, just for some perspective of how high they can go!!

Is very likely to be related to gall bladder issues. Mine went up hugely when I had pancreatitis related to gall stones.

Mine was around the 200 mark when I got taken in to hospital with an abcess that was in an advanced state and was spreading infection through my body. I have a vague memory (in my ill state) of the Dr commenting how high it was

Deffo not my gallbladder. I had mine removed years ago!

Mine can range anywhere from 30's to 300's with Crohns. Hasn't been normal in years.
