Am in a major dilemma about contraception.

Can't take any hormonal contraception, use condoms but have had one split in past and got pg, don't fancy the cap...

Does it hurt to have put in? What are the +/- to it.

I'm 25, married, have DS but want at least one more child.

yes you can bf with mirena coil in

Not sure I like the idea of it stopping a fertilised egg implanting. I struggled enough taking the MAP and would never do that again after my horrific experience.

Ho hum, guess the good ole rubbers will have to do

ive had the copper coils for years now. surely there are ethical issues with all contraceptives though aren't there?

Wilkie · 31/08/2007 21:42

Not condoms - where's the ethical issue? It's just the whole fertilised egg thing - my belief is that it is a viable human from the moment it is fertilised. Not a religious view just my personal view so I don't think the coil is for me.

they're so unreliable though. i have to admit to not really thinking of the ethical issues until i read this thread yesterday.

southeastastra · 31/08/2007 21:54

now it's playing on my mind a bit

Have had the mirena fitted about 6 weeks ago. GP told me it stopped me ovulating which is why I agreed (also have issue with MAP type effect of copper coil). Is this not the case? I have had some discomfort and bleeding- hoping it will settle soon.
