Hello all
As the title says I always feel ill, run down, exhausted etc etc and I’m wanting to know if any of you made any lifestyle changes or did anything and found that it worked for you?
I don’t smoke and rarely drink but I’m always struggling with my health.
Check ups I have had have shown good blood pressure with nothing really an issue.
What worked for you?

Did you have any blood tests to see if you were deficient in anything?

Are you getting enough sleep?

Tinkobell · 03/01/2020 05:14

What kind of stuff is happening to you OP? Can you give more detail? Sorry you feel this way by the way. What age range are you? 💐

ALT1975 · 03/01/2020 05:14

Sleep is an issue. I can get to sleep but always wake early thinking about work (teacher)...

I’m 44.
I went through the menopause early (38ish) so am on HRT and have been for a year or so.

In terms of health it just feels like I am constantly run down, have no energy and keep getting colds, ear infections, sore throat etc.
Tests show nothing untoward - I just feel like I’m blurgh all the time.

Mmm. Well look I’m on and off with sleep depending on general stress in life at any given time. However, the one thing that’s consistently aided my sleep is Dr Guy Meadows “Good Sleep Guide” over years and years actually. Try that.
I’d also consider getting some vitamin B12 injections too OP from the GP.
Where are you at hormonally in your life?

Tinkobell · 03/01/2020 05:20

Sorry cross posted! On you on HRT gel or tablets?

Tinkobell · 03/01/2020 05:25

Do you enjoy your job? Feel it’s manageable?

ALT1975 · 03/01/2020 05:48

I’m on HRT tablets (was on patches but they aren’t available and haven’t been for a while where I live). HRT has made a huge difference really in terms of my mental health and other menopausal symptoms I was having. I would argue it changed my life!

Job wise - it is very stressful but I’m used to it. The constant feeling like shite is making it difficult to perform though which I suppose just makes things worse

I felt exactly like that at about 47.
I was a bit stressed at work but there was basically nothing wrong, yet I felt exhausted.
I started running, because I hadn’t been getting much exercise, started at five minutes every couple of days going up to 30 minutes eventually, and it made all the difference, fewer & milder colds, more energy, better sleep. And I took a daily multivitamin through the winter. .

I posted a thread almost exactly the same as this today- am also a teacher. I've been ill on and off for months. Have spent the holidays doing nothing but sitting around because I'm so knackered. Recent blood tests indicated nothing apart from some raised inflammation markers but I have a shoulder issue that would explain that. I'm exhausted and I'll all the time!

Is it the stress of the job. I was ill when I felt trapped in a situation, not work, but helping my aged DM who was more and more demanding. Guilt made me keep helping, also societal expectations, I really wanted to walk away, my health was not good. When she passed away it was a bit like a weight lifting off my shoulders (though I was sad when she died but the responsibility had gone) .

Can you make the non-working part of your life more self-indulgent. Including meditation, perhaps yoga, any hobbies you enjoy rather than looking after others.

Tinkobell · 03/01/2020 06:21

Could you stay in education OP but seek to change your role to remove or minimise the aspects of the current role that are particularly stressing you? Different year group, reporting structure or school even? What about signing up to something like a meditative yoga class or starting a teachers netball session? Just ideas....,,

Tinkobell · 03/01/2020 06:25

Do you get the chance or time in your life to socialise or confide in trusted friends OP? My friends are a godsend to me in good and bad times and can change my low mood in a heartbeat.
