Single vacs: DS now 3yrs 6months - problems?

I originally decided I wouldn't get MMR for DS but now am considering single vac before he starts nursery class in January. He's over 3 though. Is there any reason why this should be a problem? (I've never heard about anyone else waiting so long to get it done)

I can't see waiting longer would be a problem. I know the reason they wait until after 12 months is because the measels component won't be as effective if it is given before that -- can't recall why.

Personally, I vote for single jabs. Measels first (because it is the most serious of the illnesses).

Disclaimer: I am not a scientist so this is just my humble opinion.

We got single vacs for dd when she was 18 months old but we were caught up in the 'Elstree dodgy doctor' thing and when we had her tested she wasn't immune to 2 out of the 3. We then had her re-done when she was about 3 and 4 months and she was fine - the doctor had no problem with her age.

I also got caught by the Elstree thing and dd was not immune to Measles and Mumps. She only got mumps last week and she is nearly 5. You should get them done asap - especially measles. Have you found somewhere to get the single jabs?

Thanks for your help everyone. Yes, Socci, that was why I was concerned--whether it is as effective when they are older. Grommit, someone mentioned a clinic (I think it was DS 2000) on another vaccination thread and I was going to give them a try. I'm still undecided re mumps and rubella. I'm only really bothered about measles. He had a bad reaction to his first jabs and that was what put me off (plus all the stories we had heard re autism etc)

I had to pay for a bloodtest to check immunity at the breakespeare clinic in Hemel hempstead. Your GP will prob not do this for you as you opted for singel jabs - at least mine wouldn't
