Anyone broken a rib? How long before it’s not agony!

Just that really - fairly sure it’s broken although haven’t been to hospital as I know they won’t do anything anyway.

But it is so bloody painful to do anything! Breathe, sleep, cough, go to the loo, sit, stand, lie (I haven’t sneezed yet but I’m living in fear!)

Just wondering how long before people felt improvement!

8 weeks of agony! Even walking gave me pain.
Had to sleep sitting up and would often cry in my sleep :(
Like a pp I also broke my rib coughing from a bad chest infection and heavy cold. The agony of sneezing/coughing nearly made me pass out!
Doctor gave me co-codamol.
How anyone copes with more than 1 broken rib I have no idea!

Yes, I know it is a zombie thread, but the comments on here cover what I am feeling.
Broke/cracked/bruised whatever, a rib a couple of weeks ago. Was doing okay, realtive to some people on here.
Yesterday, opened the fridge[ours is a down to the floor fridge], a whoosh of cold air came out, and I was bending down to tidy out part of the fridge, when I did more damage some how. Now feel exactly as some of the comments on here - in bed last night I literally did not know how to move to not feel terrible pain.
Now know from this thread to have pillows around me. Hopefully that will help a little bit.

My question I think is this. Well 2.
Have things changed medically from Dec 2019? I am guessing not?
So still not go to GP?
And use painkillers?

I just wonder with using painkillers, is could I do more damage to myself while I dont feel the pain?

Sitting at the computer now, so long as I barely move, I dont feel pain.
Moving around, I have to be very careful.
As I said, in bed is terrible in some many places.

so not some.

Oh, and what a delight.. I have a cold and cough.
Had already read that I must cough so as not to get a chest infection. So obviously the delights of that is just great.
