Anyone had a cyst in a bone surgically removed?

I have one in my leg and it needs removing. Dr didn't say much about the operation apart from it's unusual and he's not sure how to get to the cyst (from the back or the front).

Got home and googled (I know) and talk of bone grafts, etc. Just wondering what recovery time might be like? And whether anyone who has had it removed did it ever come back?

Watching with interest. Have an osteoma on my skull that the doc has suggested removing. Hmmm I’m not sure as im a bit terrified!

Yes, skull surgery sounds a bit scary. Is it on the outside of your skull oh have they got to go right through? Does it cause you problems?

I’m in a lot of pain so just want it sorted.

I also have an osteoma on my skull (right forehead). @123holly did your doctor say it’s dangerous to leave them?

Just had one taken out of my spinal cord.

My Ds has just had a schwannoma tumor removed from his spine. It's a tumor which grows around the nerve. The danger was if the wrong nerve was cut
so the surgeon only shaved it off.
He was in surgery over 5 hours, came home the next evening as there was a nerovirus on the ward. After 10 days he was allowed to drive again.
He cannot return to work yet. But apart from a 5 inch cut on his back he is fine.
If his comes back it will be in the next 35 years as it's a very slow growing tumor.

Get all the information you can from the Surgeon not Google. Hope everything goes well.

I had an osteoma removed from my femur years ago.

It was extremely painful before the surgery. The surgery relieved the pain totally. It hasn't come back but I do have bursitis.

Burlea that's what I had! Sadly mine hasn't been quite so successful and as it had been left so long (misdiagnosed), it was a bit of a mess in there.
I've now got a CSF leak and just waiting to hear what to do next.

It's scary to think these things can be slowly growing and we dont even know. Looking back, I've always had issues with my lower back and I do seem to tire quickly. I'm glad your DS is fixed and back to full health.

LifeBeginsNow my sons surgeon told him that it would have been growing since he was a baby, he's now 37 but it's only now was it that big it started to cause problems.

Hope you get fixed as they say soon.

It’s on the outside of my skull and it’s quite large hence the reason the GP said he would be happy to refer me. Having an x ray and MRI next week to check it to confirm diagnosis.

I asked how long but they wouldn't say. All I got told was it was a long time. I'm 38. I guess this is when they randomly start playing up. I'm lucky it was all removed but there's some damage to the cord. Back to the hospital tomorrow!
