On my second lot of ABs for Chest infection, as continued to be a little short of breath with crackles with a temperature after Amoxil. Now taking Clarithromycin .

My health anxiety, which is pretty bad, feels out of control ! I'm scared of the chest infection not going or getting worse ( awful memories of my mum having a chest infection going into hospital when I was a child. She was later diagnosed with leukaemia ) also scared of taking Clarithromycin due to the long list of side effects .
Have taken one dose .

I just can't get a grip, I'm panicking and can't sleep, am so scared . My DH is fed up with me being so anxious . Please can someone help me calm down?
I know I have such issues with my mum , but I just can't seem calm down !

@girlofthenorth thank you! I hope you’re feeling a bit better today?:)

Not bad but only two hours sleep !

Plus oxygen levels a bit low when walking around ( but not dangerously- see I can do this !) but speaking to GP again later for review so will mention .
God I just want it all to go away !!
Can't thankyou enough for all the support you're giving .

Your temp is really good op try to take it one day at a time. Drinking plenty of water will help you all round, it will help loosen the mucus. Coughing will also get rid of it so don't be tempted to take any cough mixture (I'm sure you won't anyway!)
Have you bought any metatone yet? It really will revive you its fantastic.

So update - Gp worried about dropping oxygen levels and me being puffed out - so off up to AE I went to see if I had a clot ! None thank goodness but I have to have steroids .
So has anyone taken Clarithromycin and steroids please as I can't sleep on one never mind possibly the other !!

Oh dear. You are likely to struggle sleeping on the two. Can you ask if they can prescribe something temporary to help? I will just add that I recently had a sinus infection, I wasnt very poorly but I did feel rubbish. I went to be seen and my oxygen levels were 95! I did feel a bit out of puff but not that bad. Chest xray totally clear. When you are anxious it can cause a low reading on the pulse oximeter thing because you aren't taking deep enough breaths. Bear that in mind and try to relax, I know it's hard! But you really are getting in a tizzy and it won't be helping.

@bobstersmum thank you, yes spoke to GP and going to come of the Clarithromycin and start another one with my steroids tomorrow ..it's a similar family , but one you can take safely with steroids.
I am getting in a tizzy, but am reassured that's all bloods are fine, chest X-ray normal, and ecg must have been fine too, and clotting buds . I definitely feel I'm on the mend too, temp down . I didn't realise that about saturation's and anxiety . I've taken steroids before and they do make you feel weird , but they worked ! So that feels ok. I am going to make a new year resolution to get fitter and healthier so next time I heat a chest infection maybe it won't be so bad ! And get some metatone !

Bless you! Hoping this is the end to it for you now! After my awful experience early this year I had my flu jab and pneumonia jab and I'm hoping that will help in some way. Fingers crossed that you'll be fully better really soon.
