DD has had really red and painful nappy rash for the past couple of days- she cries when I'm cleaning with lotion/ cotton wool/ water and Sudocrem isn't working. Any ideas?

i have found this to be brilliant - just the tiniest amount needed and it clears redness and pain up in no time.

I use the one in the red tube but the other would be just as good.

I would say don't leave it too long before you go to a doctor, I left dd's far too long whilst I tried every cream going and it turned into a fungal infection. Whilst she has got it, don't use wipes at all and when it clears up, use a good barrier cream - I now use zinc and castor oil as it has the least amount of ingredients to lead to irritation. I haven't had a problem since.

Well, DD is lying on the carpet with a foamy egg white bum- may as well give it a shot as didn't manage to get to the chemist. Fingers crossed.. thanks to all for their suggestions

Dd2 had awful skin as a baby, we swore by Better Botty Balm as a preventative and also helped clear it up.

Also we used fleece washable nappies which were great, you could put fleece liners into disposables and wash them if you wanted, they are really good at protecting the skin. Dd2 came out in a rash with all disposables to start with, (sometimes she looked as if she had been wearing alittle pair of red pants, you could se exactly where the nappy had been in touch with her skin), adn we found washable nappies much kinder to her for a long time. Eventually we used eco-disposables as well.

I was over the moon with a salve I used for my little tike called tiny problems salve and it really was like a little miracle in a jar and well worth spending extra (because it is one of the pricier ones) to see a smile on her face at nappy change time. A health visitor said she had never seen a nappy rash like it and even she was gobsmacked at the improvement. One review nearly put me off because the poor woman said it made her babies nappy rash worse but then it dawned on me it may have been an allergic reaction. So if you try this one (or any similar type as their is a LOT to choose from) I recommend an allergy patch test on the inside of your babies wrist just to be on the safe side. You only need a tiny amount and it isn't as messy as creams.
